Is anyone else as worried about their home with the looming ice storm? We have several tall trees behind our home and I'm really worried if we get as much ice as they are calling for that they will come down. One is tall enough to hit the roof of the garage. Hoping that we don't lose power for days. Right now it is a wait and see, I suppose. We do not own a generator and I can just imagine everything spoiling. I guess we will see what happens in the next 48 hours.
. We drove until we could find a hotel and the closest with vacancy was in Fayetteville (1.5 hours away). We had to kennel our dog, in Durham, in a kennel with no power...poor guy. I had lots of dirty laundry when the power went out so I had to hit a laundromat as soon as I could. Dishes were dirty too and I had to hand wash them in the ice cold. Now, whenever a possible ice storm comes I make sure the laundry and dishes are done...and the house is somewhat in order. And I go to the store and get mostly nonperishable foods, paper products, water and TP.
Following our example, the majority of our neighbors used the same tree guy and reduced the risk of trees falling on power lines and their house also. The 7 days we were without power was still fresh in everyone's mind.
