I recently saw a comment saying that the HNY has an ice skating rink...does anyone know if this is something that might be open during our visit (late November)...and is it something open to everyone (or just HNY guests)...?
Also, does anyone know a current price? Everything I found with prices appeared to be older posts.
Thank you! :)

Should be open by then as looking at prevous years it's end of October.
Anybody can go and use it.
No idea of this years prices until it opens
Last year it was 12€ iirc :)

I should have known you'd have the answer. :thumbsup2

Thanks so much!
And have you done it before? Meaning to ask, is it worth the money? Do they play music? I'm picturing ice skating at Rockefeller Center...but probably not that sort of atmosphere, huh? :rotfl2:

I thought that since they installed the synthetic rink it was open all year round ?

They play music, we had a room overlooking the ice rink during our HNY stay and it was lovely to open the room windows and have the music drift up. :)

No they have months where there is nothing on it but it's closed, then they have those hamster balls on it instead of skating.

I've never been because it's synthetic and I can't use my own skates on there. :(

I prefer going to the outdoor rinks in Paris when they set them up as they are real ice surfaces with music and mulled wine and it just seems more Christmassy and everything

I was just wondering if the HNY had anything where it's ice rink is at the moment? We're there on Sunday for the week and i know they sometimes have the huge rolling-balls there too.

So happy it's into our SDD! One more days work!!! :cool1::cool1:pixiedust:pixiedust:

My family and I tried it out one December a few years ago, and we weren't impressed. We're a family of competent skaters and at the time we went to proper rinks at home all the time. The DLP rink was badly maintained, lumpy, and pretty treacherous even for experienced skaters! We all gave up with it fairly quickly, which was a real shame after dishing out for the skate rental. We all decided we'd have rather parked up beside it with a hot chocolate watching other people skate!

I can't speak for recent years, but we haven't been inclined to try it again.

JustJonathon - I've merged the thread you started, with this one.

Hopefully somebody can tell you if they have seen anything on there recently.

I used to love it in the winter months when it was real ice.
Last year we went on the synthetic rink and it's just not the same, in my opinion it was much harder to skate and had lost some of the magic

Hmmm...doesn't sound very promising then, does it? :rolleyes2

I suppose we could have a stroll over there and look around, but sounds as though it might not be worth the cost of admission. Thank you all! :goodvibes

There was nothing on it last week when we were there, in fact, half of it seemed to be pulled up. I detest synthetic rinks, it's tooooooo hard on the feet!
