Ice packs?? Can we carry them on or should I check them??

I am leaning towards checking them, but it sure would be nice to hit the ground running with frozen ice packs, but they are liquids right??

No, you cannot bring them on the plane, however you can put them in your checked baggage.

That's what I thought... I scoured the TSA website and didnt see them listed under OK or NOT ok, so I tossed them in the suitcase.

I believe the new rules allow you to carry on ice packs to keep carry on medication cold. So no more need to pack frozen peas. I assume that is not what the OP wanted the ice packs for.
