Ice Ice Baby

I have gone and plan on going this year as well. I enjoyed it and will add some pictures for you to look at. The ice slides are a lot of fun to do.

Here are some pictures from when I went 2 years ago.

we have never done Disney at Christmas time, is this something worth taking a couple hour break from Disney for?

Went to "Ice" a couple of years ago - entire experience lasted maybe 20 minutes & that included doing the slide a few times. To me it just wasn't worth the money to see it & to pay for parking. JMHO..........:goodvibes

That looks so cool, thanks for the pictures!

It is just off the Disney property. I enjoyed it. They also have an ice skating rink with a DJ playing songs. We are planning on doing it in the morning before MVMCP. The slides are alot of fun. They have several, that are different heights. It is very cold so make sure you wear closed toe shoes and jeans. They will provide you with the jacket. It's amazing how they can carve such before things out of big blocks of ice.

That sounds like a great idea and a unique Christmas experience!

We went 3 or 4 years ago in Orlando and last year in Nashville. I'm planning on going again in Orlando this year. They didn't have the ice skating rink the last time we were there. That sounds like fun. Have a great time!

We have tickets for ICE can't wait to see it.....Should I bring gloves and hats with us???

We are going this year too. A couple of questions - what is the price for parking at Gaylord Palms? I have just seen the references to the high cost of parking, but there were no specifics. Also, for those who have gone before, how much time do you normally allow for this exhibit? Finally, is it "safe" to bring in a normal digital camera, or should I just get a disposable camera to take pictures of the exhibit? Thanks!

Gloves would be a good idea (otherwise you'll want to keep your hands covered in the sleeves). The parkas have hoods on them, but a hat might be less bulky.

When we were there last, I think it was $8 to park, but it's probably more than that now. IMO, Gaylord charges way too much for parking, but they do it at their other hotels too (not just this one). They are nice hotels, but between the valet parking fee and the resort fee, I almost felt like I was buying an extra hotel room. ;)

The digital camera is fine. That's what we used too. They gave us some suggestions for using it when we went in.

When we went a couple of years ago I think parking was $7 or $8. Took us about 20 minutes to go through the whole thing including going down the slides a few times. Took my regular digital camera, but kept it in my pocket inbetween pictures so that it didn't stay really cold. I also took gloves which came in handy. For us, it wasn't worth the money - but can say we've been there, done that - will save the money for Disney next time! :cutie:

We went with friends a couple of years ago and they didn't have the skating rink, but I'd love to go again this year and do the skating! We loved it! We were in the actual ICE display and slides for more than an hour. We made a day of it - drove to Orlando (about 1.5 hours away), did ICE (we are Florida folks so we layered up and had hats and gloves), spent time in the ICE gift shop, got the free hot chocolate, then walked around the Gaylord Palms for a long time. It's a gorgeous resort with so much to see! We visited Santa and watched a wedding that was taking place at the hotel ;) then we had dinner there. I can't remember the name of the place, but it was the buffet restaurant, and it was delicious! We got our parking ticket validated at the restaurant so parking was free. Unfortunately I don't have access to all the pictures on this computer, but we had a wonderful day - really felt like Christmas :)

We did Ice and thought it was excellent. We took our digital camera, and we had gloves with us, didn't wear the gloves though. 20 minutes seems pretty fast to go through it, I think we spent about an hour, including the slide.

If you are going to do it, (especially on the weekend), I would recommend getting there right when they open in the morning when it isn't quite so crowded. You can purchase your tickets online at gaylordpalms.com, and when we did it that way, there was a small discount on the ticket.

We were staying at Gaylord palms that weekend, so parking wasn't an issue.

Definately worth a break from disney to see, the Gaylord palms is a beautiful resort, lovely during the holidays!
