ice for plantar fasciitis

I was thinking of freezing a water bottle during my stay at WDW, and using at night on my foot (plantar fasciitis), but just found out there is no freezer section in the refridgerators provided in the deluxe resorts.

Any other ideas?

Can you maybe get one of the those metal water bottles and put ice in it? Then roll it your foot on it? We have a couple and it really cold when you add ice water.:confused3

Sadly I have PF and have been in similar situations as you. My suggestion would be to take a tennis ball, pool ball, baseball, or something of similar size with you.

Can't you just get ice in your ice bucket and use the little baggie that fits in the bucket?

Ice seems to aggrivate my PF, and cold weather for that matter.

I too have PF. I keep an unopened vegetable can under my desk at work (I wonder what the maintenance people think). It is the perfect size to roll under the arch of your foot. You could use a similar type can and keep it in the refrigerator. It would provide the right shape and temperature.

I used to PF. What to do is to soak your foot in the hottest water you can find that wont burn you. Soak it for a good 15 minutes. When finished, scrape your foot. It works.

I've had Plantar Fasciitis for a couple of years. It's gotten a better but I don't think I will ever be 100% it is always there. I manage it. I think the food can would work well for rolling and give you the cooling effect that you need with it being in the fridge. You could try it at home for a few days to see what you think.

I wear a dorsal night splint every night and that gives me the most relief.

I also stretch with my pro-strecher that the physical therapist recomended for my short tight achillies tendons, the root of the problem for me.

My first trip to Disney with PF I brought an ice pack that you can fill with ice and I tied it to my foot in bed for a while.

I also wear sketchers flip flops or the sketchers shape-ups in the parks they are the only footwear that I can use that I am not in constant pain.

Hope you have a good trip :)

I feel your pain. PF (and bad knees) ruined my trip to Paris, mainly because I didn't have the right orthotics yet. Physical Therapy and the right shoes have saved all my trips since then.

Ask for an extra ice bucket from the hotel. Put your ice packs or water bottle(s) in an ice bucket with as much ice as will fit. If there is room in the fridge, put the whole thing in the fridge while you sleep. When you wake up, the ice pack or bottle might be frozen, and you can bring it with you for some relief later. Put another one in before you leave for the day so you have something ready when you get back.

Ice in baggies works fine at first, but they leak when they melt, so you can't bring them with you.

If you have time before you leave, physical therapy exercises can help a lot. Stretching the calf, and using a balance board (which really works your foot muscles) helped me the most to get rid of the problem. Having the right shoes (broken in but not too much) and orthotics is essential.

I'm not used to walking long distances right now, so I have a lot of PT work to do before my trip to Disney.

Good luck!
