Hi everyone I am planning on taking my children to The Ice Cream Social the Garden Grille in Epcot. I was wondering if anyone had ever attended this and what exactly to expect. Also, what is this about a "Re-hitchin' Ceremony" I read about is on www.allearsnet.com, anyone ever done it or seen it done?? Thanks guys
Kim

There was a really good thread on here a couple of days ago about the ice cream social. I've never been but it sounds great.

The ice cream social is a wonderful respite from the heat. It's held around 3pm at the Garden Grill and it's 6.95 per person (kids too). Each person gets an ice cream sundae (no choice, it's fixed)... the adults: sundae in a waffle cone stuck to the plate with chocolate, a spiruline wafer, mickey chocolate wafer and whipped cream, hot fudge over the ice cream.

the kids get a sundae on a chocolate chip cookie stuck to the plate with a waffle cone upside down on top of the sundae resembling a hat. Garnished with m&ms and gummi worms.

The Garden Grill is a restaurant that revolves, so you see the Living with the Land attraction as it rotates. You get to interact with Pluto and farmers Mickey, Chip & Dale.

We've done this before and the kids really love it. Character dining without the heavy prices.

I haven't done one yet, but don't they have an ice cream social at the other WDW parks too?
Or is it just at Epcot?

We have a PS for the Ice Cream Social on July 24. I inquired about the rehitching ceremony and was told you can no longer do it at the ice cream social, only lunch or dinner.

We had the re-hitching ceremony for our 20th anniversary. After your meal you are asked to stand up in front of everyone while the "officiant" has you renew your vows. VERY LOUDLY. :teeth: He makes sure everyone in earshot knows that you are getting rehitched. There is a small "wedding" cake with confetti, and they give you a re-hitching certificate. Lots of fun.

I should also add that we had a lunch PS. It was New Year's Eve, and there were several people in line ahead of us who were turned away because they didn't plan ahead. We got lots of dirty looks while we went right in, but we planned ahead.

:daisy: Ooohh, I can't wait to give it try. I made PS for 5/25 at 3:15. I was a bit nervous about the social being a little too "young" for DH and I, but...I figured it'll be an experience.

Yup - we've done the ICS twice and the rehitching ceremony twice. Great time!

(sorry its sideways)

Talked to DH today and let him know that I had thought about doing the Ice Cream Social on this trip. :mickeybar

We planned a last minute trip over Memorial Day weekend and are going on a REALLY TIGHT budget as we have also planned a trip back to CA to visit family.

I told him the ICS would be a treat without breaking our budget like Rainforest Cafe would. He said we might not be up for rides afterward and I told him we could hit rides and then go to the social and plan on visiting the WS afterward. That way we can walk off the ice cream. :p

:cat: :earboy2: :wave2:

I had thought about doing the rehitching ceremony while we are there, but another poster said they no longer do that during the ICS. :sad1:

If you see three people looking stuffed while walking around WS, two with lime green pins, that will be us.

Anyone know if they will allow me to attend with the family and not get ice cream. I have been very good on my diet and hate to gain all the weight back over vacation.
