Okay, I'm so confused about these two things. The only thing I'm sure of is that they both happen in Epcot in the Garden Grill Restaurant. As I understand, the Ice Cream Social is a Character thing... Do you HAVE to make PS for this? If so, does anyone know what the timeline is on it? Is it the standard 90 days? Secondly, the Rehitching Ceremony. I'm unclear whether this is still offered? I read at allears.net that you have to set this up when you make your PS.... (this is where I was confused, because others have said you could just pop into the ice cream social!). Help!

Yes it is a 90 day in advance PS. I just called a few days ago and was told to mention it when I PS (if I want to get re-hitched). I don't think its required but I think its best. I'm looking forward to character social too!!!!!!

Thanks! Writing it down now! heehee! Do you know what they do during the rehitching ceremony? How embarassing is it? LOL :hyper:

We just got home from Disney last weekend. We did the Rehitching ceremony while we were there. We did it at the Ice Cream Social, which we did have to make PS's for. I wouldn't recommend just popping in and hoping for a seat. People were trying that while we were there and they were told there was nothing available. I didn't make our PS's until about 30 - 40 days before we left and was still able to get one.

The Ice Cream Social is a character meal..or more like snack. Farmer Mickey is there along with Chip and Dale..and Pluto.

The Rehitching ceremony is still offered..we did it! It was sooo cute and I loved it. I totally recommend it for anyone celebrating an anniversary, wedding, or honeymoon. I know that the CM's sometimes tell people when they call, that it's not available at the Ice Cream Social. IT IS!! I do not know why Disney doesn't make this known to their CM's at WDW DINE. Argh! Anywho...just make sure you tell them to note it when you make your PS. Then remind them again when you check in at the podium at the Garden Grill. We also reminded our server, just in case ;)

The Ice Cream Social is an excellent character experience for very little money..around $7 per person.

Hope that helped a little :)

I've read many different things happen at this social. First you get the Ice Cream and Mickey, Chip, Dale, and Goofy shows up. I've read this character "meal" is more personal. The characters dance, color, and play with the children. Then after the social, you'd go out to the garden and get re-hitched. I've read some reports that Mickey gives the bride away, I've read that Mickey did the ceremony. During the "kiss" there is a counting to 100. Starting 1, 2. 3..... then 10, 20, 30...... People have written that they were told to kiss that whole counting time. And I've read that you get a certificate afterwards. I think its worth it. My DD4 has been talking about seeing her mommy and daddy get "married" again (of course she's always looking at our pictures, so she wants to be in the "wedding").

Most of that is how our was..but some of the things didn't happen that way.

Our server performed the "ceremony"...they kinda have to since the characters don't talk.

The "ceremony" was performed right at our table. They just had us stand up in front of our booth. Then the server tells you to repeat those two words you said when you first got married. Then you have to kiss the whole time as they count to 100. They start out with 1, 2, 3,...then start counting by tens. Chip was our best man, he stood there with us.

The whole ceremony only takes a few minutes. And you do get a cute little certificate afterwards.

I was very glad we decided to do this. Such a wonderful memory for the kids and us. :)

Okay, so this sounds like a MUST DO for us! Our kids would totally Love to see Mommy and Daddy get remarried! Thanks everyone for all the info!

Forgot to ask... what are the times for the Ice Cream Social? Is it only in the afternoon?

All my years at Disney and have eaten at the Garden Grill many times I never heard of the Rehitching ceremony. What an awesome idea I think I will surprise my DH in July and get REHITCHED!!

How cute would it be to get those Bride and Groom Mouse Ears for the ceremony!

I posted a previous thread on this Discussion board last week. Most of the Cm's don't know what you are talking about when you call and ask about it, and I also haven't yet figured out if it is for sure offered during the Ice Cream Social. I have gotten too many conflicting answers on that question, I 'm not sure how to post a link to that thread but if you check I'm sure you will find it, I had a lot of great replies and info. Good luck!
