Ice Cream Martini?

Okay, I've stopped by L’Artisan des Glaces in Epcot's France pavilion a few times and been tempted by the ice cream martini. But each time, there's been some excuse to skip it.

Like our plans to stop at Ample Hills later that evening. Or I'm still too full from dinner and don't want a $12 ice cream drink.

But yet I'm so curious about this ice cream martini, that next time I might need to clear out all my other plans and make this the activity of the evening.

So who has tried this tempting libation?

Would you give up Ample Hills or another Epcot drink in order to have it? What combination of liquor and ice cream flavors work best with it? Is it worth the calories and price tag, or is it all hype?

I want to hear your thoughts!

I just make it at home. All you need is whipped cream flavored vodka (I like Pinnacle brand) and some high quality ice cream (I use Haagen Dazs). Pour the vodka over a scoop of ice cream. Easy peasy!

I wouldn't give up Ample Hills for anything at L'Artisan ... Ample Hills is the best ice cream on property and their Hard Black Cherry Float is a great alcohol option. My favorite Ice Cream/alcohol drinks are over at D-Luxe Burger in Disney Springs .. they have some amazing gelato shakes with my favorite being the Smoked Bourbon/Bacon shake (I get it with chocolate gelato)

Amazing! Thanks to you both. I'll keep heading to Ample Hills on future trips, and check out D-Luxe Burger as well.

And it's funny that it didn't even occur to me to make it at home. @DLgal, you're right... that sounds simple enough!

Yeah, the "ice cream martini" is playing fast and loose with the term "martini." They literally JUST pour vodka over a scoop of ice cream in a cup. At home, you can actually blend it up if you want to actually drink it.

I guess I can't even call it a libation. More of an "adult topping."

I love to stop for an Ice Cream martini in France. They are super yummy.
And confession, I get something at Ample Hills on another day

Oh yes! Another day is another stomach. :)

I just couldn’t do it that day because we were headed directly from France out the international gateway on our way to the Boardwalk for ice cream. That would’ve been a bit much. Hahaha.

I did not know that France had an ice cream martini, that is good to know. I love ice cream and I love martinis, what could go wrong?

We love the ice cream martini in France. We especially love that the CMs who prepare the drink seem to have absolutely no idea what a typical amount of hard alcohol should be!! We always end up with so much Rum that we have to let the ice cream melt a bit because it is SOOOOO strong! It's the most dangerous drink we get at WDW!

Ample Hills? How on earth did I miss that? Doh :o! Embarrassing to say this is the first I've heard of it and I thought I was an ice cream aficionado.

I'm so glad you mentioned it :thanks:. We're 2 weeks away from our next trip and you can bet that this will be dessert following Monsieur Paul dinner the evening we arrive! Just a short walk.

Wait! Maybe we do a pre-meal ice cream martini... Nah, sandwiching a great French meal with ice cream on both sides would be overdoing it, and way, way too decadent. But then again it is vacation... Hmmmmm. :yay:

Yep, the ice cream martini has one of the best pours on property. I got it and the gentleman put in 2 scoops of ice cream, then filled the martini glasses the rest of the way with whipped cream vodka. It was way more than a shot. And I too had to let the ice cream melt some before I could drink it.
