Ice cream desserts recipes?

I would like to make an ice cream dessert for Christmas. I am would like to try something new. My family is pretty picky so it can't be too exotic. Thanks much....Cheri

I have a really good recipe using ice cream sandwiches if you'd like it.

I would love it. An open box of ice cream sandwiches at my home is an empty box.

My mom used to make an awesome ice cream/cake concoction. Bake a cake in a cheesecake pan not a 9x13" pan. Looks like a cookie sheet but higher sides. Any kind of cake mix works. Then she'd cut it in half placing on half on a platter. Slightly soften a 1/2 gallon of any ice cream and cut it with a knife in "slabs" and place over the cake. Add the remaining piece of cake on top making a log. Place in freezer for a few minutes to help set up. When you are ready to use spread cool whip over the entire cake and slice and serve!

It is so easy and so many combinations. Chocolate, yellow, cherry chip, cakes with rocky road, cookies and cream, vanilla, chocolate, butter pecan, etc. etc. ice cream. See what I mean--lots of good combinations. You can add sprinkles or chocolate shavings on top or drizzle hershey syrup over it.

It's so very easy to make and it's always a huge hit.

Ice Cream Sandwich Dessert

18-20 ice cream sandwiches
large container cool whip
1-16oz. Hershey's hot fudge topping
chopped nuts

In 9x13 pan layer ice cream sandwiches, thin layer of cool whip, Hershey's hot fudge topping. Another layer ice cream sanwiches, rest of cool whip and chopped nuts. Freeze. Take out 15 minutes before serving. Cut. (I usually put the nuts in a seperate bowl on the side for people to put their own seeing some don't care for nuts). Really good and really fast and easy to make!

4 env. unflavored gelatin, softened in 2 cups water
1 pkg. (6oz.) orange jello
1 1/2 cups sugar
2 cups boiling water
1 can (6oz.) frozen pasion fruit juice
6 Tbsp. lemon juice
2 cups vanilla ice cream
2 cups cold water

Dissolve orange jello and sugar in boiling water. Add softened gelatin. Stir to dissolve. Add passion fruit juice, lemon juice, and ice cream and stir. Add cold water, then pour into a 9x13 pan and refrigerate.

Variation-Use strawberry jello and guava nectar, in place of orange jello and passion fruit juice.

Variation of Connie of Trenton's recipe:

1 box ice cream sandwiches (12 or so I think, regular box)
1 container cool whip
1 container of Magic Shell syrup
1 pkg M&M mini's (by the chocolate chips)

Open the sandwiches, layer into a 9x13 pan and smash them (you can use your hands if you want, or a spoon, or whatever). Spread the cool whip over the sandwiches; pour the entire bottle of magic shell on top of the cool whip, usually can't completely cover it all, add M&M's to the top of the chocolate--you have to get them on there before the chocolate hardens. Freeze and serve when ready!
