Hi,
Does anyone know what kind of ice cream they serve at scoops? Is it soft serve ice cream or frozen yogurt? I'll let the experts tell me !

It was soft something, I can't tell the difference betweem ice cream and frozen yogurt, but it was GOOD!

My new Passporter guide says it's soft-serve frozen yogurt, with your choice between vanilla or chocolate.

actually, don't get excited about it....nothing special, just like onboard pizza. Only a couple flavors/couple toppings. The atmosphere is amazing though. Tip: lookin for delux ice cream: Peaches & cream at Beach Club Resort.:jester:

We all really enjoyed it because it's included in the $.....so there was no need to say, "we can't/shouldn't buy that"....the fresh fruit there is awesome. In fact, we really ate more fruit (esp. mango) than ice cream!

Ditto on the fresh fruit - had more of the pineapple than I should have though!

According to my ice dream loving family members, the ice cream at Scoops was "nothing to write home about". But it's all in what you are accustomed to and like.

Personally, I could eat day old bread as long as I was there and be happy. We have too much wind, snow and ice to care right now about anything but sitting on the deck in the warm sun!

The ice cream is like what you'd get at DQ or Carvel. One hint - it melts FAST so get a cup!

It occurs to me that a nice addition to the ship would be an old-fashioned ice cream parlor - maybe if they do something different with Common Grounds...

Being soft serve must be the reason I have heard it refered to as "POOPS" instead of SCOOPS!!!!!:o

they used to have real, scoop ice cream :( , but i think there was too much concern over the amount of time it took to scoop and the length of the lines. they were also not open as much as they are now.

personally, i'd go for better ice cream fewer times during the cruise. :Pinkbounc

I haven't heard the "Poops" reference before, but when they switched from the hand scooped to the soft serve, (back in the days of the old AOL DCL message boards), we all promptly christened it, "Slops!"
But never fear, even tho' Scoops is only fair (think of the stuff served at buffets like Ponderosa or Old Country Buffet), they have Columbo soft serve ice cream on Castaway Cay. Mmmm, delicious! Usually they have raspberry and cookie dough flavors. They don't have that at the Parrot Cay buffet on the ship on CC day, but instead they have hand scooped so you will not suffer.

Barb, I forgot how good the ice cream was at Castaway Cay. Too bad the ship doesn't have that instead!!! I can taste the cookie dough right now (it cools down my mouth from all that fresh pineapple I O.D. on)!

When's your next cruise? Remember we are living vicariously through you!

Next one is March 13 :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:
Then Easter weekend, and then we will be "Wonder traitors" and head back to the Magic for another Western on 5/24.
I really missed the cookie dough since we stayed on board on this last trip instead of going to Castaway Cay (I'm ALMOST done with the trip report, which will contain full details...should be posted tonight or tomorrow night). But our lunch server in Parrot Cay made me a nice big bowl of hand-scooped ice cream just the way I like it, with lots of whipped cream and cherries, so I definitely didn't suffer. :D

Barb,
I am bit a bit "long in the tooth" to be adopted, but would like you to consider this.....I cook, clean and do windows!
And I won't make any long distance phone calls!

Did anyone say Scoops now serves "frozen yogurt?"

On the Magic this past summer it was soft serve "ice cream". It may not seem like a big deal, but I am on a strict low fat diet and ice cream is a big no-no but fat free frozen yogurt is a big YES! They had the yogurt on Castaway Cay but not on the ship. We will be on the 7/13 Wonder this year and hopefully it will be on the ship!

The new passporter has that is frozen yogurt. I hope it is ice cream, but no one seems to know for sure.

Does anyone know for sure?

I am pretty sure that it is ice cream, I don't care for frozen yogurt much and it did not have that taste. One thing I learned recently from Weight Watchers is that soft serve ice cream is much less fattening that the hard kind. 4 oz. has approximately 160 calories and 7 grams of fat. Not exactly diet food, but not as bad as it could be!
