I apologize because I'm new and not sure where to place this question.
We are considering driving to Florida from Delaware. Can anyone tell us if they've ever driven down using I95 overnight? We were thinking of leaving around 4:00 p.m. and arriving the next morning. Is there any traffic? I'm not so great in super heavy traffic because I've lived at the beach my whole life and we have two major roads with 2 or three lanes and our top speed is 50mph. (Life is great here!!)
Any feedback on routes to take (from lower Delaware) or info on the "overnight I95 thing" would be greatly appreciated!!!!
Thank you

I have driven I95 from NC to WDW a couple of times. It is a nice drive. The roads are very nice and well marked. The only traffic that we have ever hit is around Jacksonville. Also Orlando can get trafficky (is that a word?) sometimes. The delays that we have hit there were not too horrible, but worth mentioning. I think that as long as you are through Jacksonville before rush hour (on weekdays), you will be fine.

Hope this helps you some. Sorry that I can't help you north of NC. Have a great trip!!

we drive from South Carolina...getting on I-95 at the I-26 interchange...I have left at 4pm and went thru JAX at 10:30 at it was still crazy and alot of lane shifts..easy to take a wrong turn if not paying attention....

I have also left at 1am and driving thru Jax at 7am and it was still crazy...

the only part of the drive i do not like is JAX...the rest is fine...

Our first visit we left around 9:00 pm and drove straight through getting there at 5:30 am. Actually got our room right away, so we freshened up and hit a park at opening. I actually turned into a zombie at some point that day. Now we always drive down at least the day before when we drive. But we have flown the last two trips and already have our plane tickets for our next trip. Jacksonville can be a bit confusing and REALLY busy during rush hour. If you think they drive fast on I95, wait until you hit Jacksonville (you don't want to be in a four cylinder car) You have to floor it or be ran over:rotfl2:

Hi

We are leaving from 15 miles north of Wilmington, DE. We plan to leave Sat nite around 7 pm. My husband works nights so it will not be a problem for us. Last year we left at 2am on a Sat morning and arrived in Orlando @ 5pm. We made a couple of stops for breakfast and lunch. We would have been in Orlando by 3pm but we got caught in a traffic delay for road construction and an accident for 1 1/2 hours in JAX. I agree JAX is the only real problem area with the drive. Otherwise it is a nice drive.:wizard:

As others have stated, it's great until you get to Jacksonville. I have renamed I4 the "All Idiots Expressway."

We usually drive sown from Philly (this year we are actually flying) we drove at night so that DS will sleep in the car for most of the ride and pretty much stay on schedule (He was 11 months, 23 months, and 35 months the 3 times we drove with him). We would always leave around 8:00 and found the traffic to be great. We would only run into a little bit of traffic in Georgia (Which always seems to have contruction) When you get to Jacksonville get off of 95 and get on 295. Not shorter, but a heck of alot less traffic

I've driven at night and late at night but never overnight. That said the traffic problems late at night are nil but I did notice a lot of trucks on 95. Make sure to get out of their way, they will ride your bumper from my experience.

Wow, I did not realize that Jax was that bad ALL the time. I am glad that I moved back to Louisiana and will be going I10 to I75 this next trip. We have never had any probs on this route, just tolls.
