I posted this on the gay/lesbian at Disney board but I would like to also post this here:

To all of the gay men and lesbian women who I may have offended, I would like to offer a heartfelt apology and say I'm sorry to you.

I was a participant in the Brokeback Mountain thread on the community board and I am sure I offended some people there.

I have always felt that I am a non-judgmental person. I don't feel that "my way" is necessarily the "right way" for anyone else. I don't judge people on how they look, how they were brought up, etc. I've always felt "live and let live." But my views on gays/lesbians didn't reflect that.

I have never been prejudiced against other races of people, or people of different faiths. I can't stand prejudice. But, my views on gays/lesbians didn't reflect that either.

After participating in the Brokeback Mountain thread, I had a lengthy discussion with my husband about gays and lesbians and some of the things he said were very thought provoking. I thought about it for quite some time. And for a couple of weeks I have felt that I really owed people here an apology.

It is not my place to judge gay/lesbian people. It is God's place to judge all of us someday. So, I need to keep my nose out of it. :) I need to be more understanding, more compassionate, more caring, and act more like a Christian should act.

So, to all who I may have offended, I am truly sorry.

YAY for you and thats right ACT LIKE A CHRISTIAN should act .You just did just that you looked at what you did, saw it was in the wrong manner and made amends .

If all Christians just did the same boy would it be a better world .

Again YAY for you and have a nice day

And this has nothing to do with the G & L thing or the brokeback thread just everyday general life.

I didn't read the Brokeback thread, but good for you! It takes a big person to admit to making a mistake, and to apologize.

I didn't read the brokeback thread either, but can pretty much guess.... I just wanted to say Yaay!!!! :cheer2: It does take a lot to admit that you may have offended others, even if it were unintentional, and apologize. GO CHATTYAHOLIC!! :cheer2:

It takes real courage to say something like that - nice one :)

I participated in the Brokeback thread and I just want to say that I'm impressed! What a heartfelt apology.

Not only did you take the time to reflect further on the issue, but you came back to make amends. Good for you!

I didn't read the thread either but I do agree with the line about how we should act... like Christ... Christian means Christ Like...

The term WWJD is not just a catch phrase.

God bless. I agree with Rich, it takes true courage to admit when we feel we've done wrong. That is the true test of maturity.

For me , your apollogies really make me think that it is always better to go for what unites us than what divides us ! And what unites us is the desire to love and be loved. We might desagree on the who we should love , but not on the desire.

Thank you again for your brave appologies. I participated on that thread and some thing said there were sometime borderline ugly (I dont remember you saying anything I consider ugly !) It is nice that it sparked a conversation in your family.

Anf for those that say that debates and conversation on the DIS will never change anyones mind on some subject , weel , maybe Chattyaholic's mind was not changed totally on this particular subject , but she came to a different understanding that is much more positive that the one she said she had before ! :cool1:

Wow. I vaguely remember the essense of what you said. And I think it is so admirable of you to come on here and apologize. It takes a big person to admit when we may have been wrong.

I am truely just wowed today!!

I only read a few of your replies in that thread, but I just wanted to say that I am so truly impressed with your apology. It brought tears to my eyes.

:grouphug:

I didn't read that thread either, but wanted to say that your apology was very nice and I wish more people would have the courage to do something like that. You did good!

Thank you. I did read the thread for a while but had to make the decision whether to leave the DIS or no longer read that thread.

Good for you....can your husband talk to some of my family? We deal with gay issues within my household, and SOME family members (who state they are Christian) can not deal with it very well (I will give them Kudo's though-be it for appearance or because they are a changin'-they come to many more family gatherings in the last year then ever before-the latest was more special-but that's another topic)

Didn't read the thread in question, but wanted to jump in here and say that I admire you for coming on here and making an apology.. It takes a big person to do that - many can't..

Way to go! :thumbsup2

YOU GO GURL!!!! :cheer2:

It is refreshing to see a post where someone humbles themselves and admits they had an error in judgement. Not many do this in RL, never mind on a message board.

This was also very inspiring because my baby brother just came out and is going through a most difficult time because of my mother, who refuses to except it because of her religious beliefs!

Another 'non-reader' of the thread here, but what great thoughts here, Chatty. :thumbsup2

Its very easy to leave a comment (complimentary, snarky, with slight criticism, flame, or other wise), but it is difficult to admit you were wrong. For what ever reason this poster came to the conclusion that what she did was wrong and came back to the DIS on two forums to apologize. THIS TAKES GUTS as we as humans don't easily want to admit we are wrong.

I didn't catch any of the threads mentioned, but this thread I had to leave a post b/c I have been where the OP is now. OP you've turned away, continue to do what is right....just as Jesus did. ;)
