I wish there was a young adult price.

My son just turned 10. So hes no longer considered a child as far as food goes. I will probably still order off child menu for him at counter services, not because I'm trying to swindle Disney but mainly because he wouldn't eat much off of the regular menu. But I just looked up the Mother's Day Brunch. $47 for adults and $20 for kids 9 and under. WOW $47 is steep for adults but sure I'll pay that because we really enjoyed the Brunch a few years ago. But it's really gonna hurt to pay $47 for a kid that is not gonna eat anymore than he did when he was 9. I can tell you he will most likely eat a scoop of eggs maybe a pancake or waffle and probably a dessert.

I know they have to make cut off kids at some point but wouldn't a young adult price be a nice transition. no need to make a different menu. Maybe just add and up charge to the child's menu. Oh well.

I think it best to just be truthful with Disney, admit that your child is 10, and pay adult rates, or eat counter-service if they are unwilling to give you a break on the price. While we'd all love for things to be more customized to our own needs, and we'd all love for everything to be less expensive, that's just not how things are. :(

I have every intention to be truthful. Lying is not something I wish to teach my child.

Never saw that the OP was trying to lie about ages... anyone can order off the kids menu at CS. I agree with the big price jump- it really stinks because seriously most kids (of course there are exceptions) eat little more at 10,11 or 12 than an 8 year old and the price has MORE than doubled. I know they need to just make a cut off otherwise you'll hear well- i'm dieting so i don't eat that much, or I'm a senior citizen who doesn't eat that much- but thinking 12 would be a better cutoff IMPO>

Here is the easy solution to your problem. When they ask how old he is you say, "9" and don't think about the marality aspect. Everyone will got through the experience.

I agree that I wish there was another category to list kids in that fall between the ages of 10 and 12. Around here you are not considered an "adult" until you are at least over 12 to order off a different menu.

I agree, since when is a 10 year old an adult?????

I think they should raise the age to 14 or something.

When we took our niece she barely ate anything (Princess Breakfast and Chef Mickeys) and it killed us to pay the adult price.

I always politely ask the waitstaff, "Look, she's 10 (or 11) but she probably won't even finish a kid's meal. May she please order from the children's menu?" We have never been told 'No.'

Yep if my 10 year old wants to order off the kids menu I see no problem with it.

I not only agree with you, my DD10 has done it. For buffets, I just stick a crowbar in my wallet and pay the "adult" price.

Don't let this get around but my DW and I have been known to buy the child's ice cream cone with Mickey Ears for ourselves (DW did ask if it was OK).

I was 19 and ordered off the kids menu at restaurants when I wasn't that hungry. There is no problem with it at all.
