Every scrap-crap magazine I get says they have warehouse sales in Utah...
imagine the deals

hmmmmm do you think the family would mind our next vacation being to Utah -

Patty, I've got a couple of extra pages of Peeps stickers. I know it wouldn't take the place of a warehouse sale in Utah , but maybe it would be like a little band-aid . Let me know, and I'll mail them out to you.

I feel your pain....There's some kind of huge warehouse sale of Vera Bradley bags in Indiana in April, but I'd nearabout have to paddle a canoe up the Mississippi River, then jump on a bike to get there.

I *think* Making Memories is there and they had their warehouse sale this week... can you EVEN imagine?

Be checking ebay shortly... I'm sure people buy only to turn around and sell there!!

I do need to say that the scrappin makes this state palateable... Now I wish Centerville was oh 3 hours closer cause that does seem to be a good sale

Provo Craft does have some good sales but their warehouse sales are by invite only *but they do have 3+ feeder stores right here* that we do get really good bargins at

Pebbles Inc is also based here, Keeping Memories Alive (scrapbooks.com) is about 15 min away and when it first started Creating Keepsakes was down the street (now they are up north of Salt Lake)

My fav is when CKU comes to down- REALLY amazing deals that week

Okay, so here is stupid question, but why is it that most Scrapbook Companies are located in Utah? What is the attraction to that state only? I am just curious, I have never been to Utah! LOL

Its been reported a while that scrapbooking originated in Utah. A lot of the people who started companies started in that area. I believe this is where Lisa Bearnson lives also.

Because it has a LARGE LDS base and scrapbooking reportedly started because they are big into heritage.

Scrapbooking has been around here long before it was popular-Stores like Provo Craft/Keeping Memories have been around since atleast the early 80s and I have people in my family that have been "scrappin" since then and I remember on one or two vacations out here (before we moved out here in 92) going to Keeping Memories back in the mid to later 80s to get paper and it was a big thing (to me) to be able to choose stickers for some pages. Cause well thats all there was to accent books with- For most of my older books it was one color of cardstock a year with stickers to accent it

Even in the early to mid 90s it was a little harder to find "new" things but when Pebbles open (AND had a Diecutter) it was big- and I vividly remember having to call about 2 weeks in advance to get an appointment for the Cutter. It all started to get big about 97-99 and has taken off since then

I started doing my own books in 96/97 and its fun to see the changes through time...

Its not near as Utah based as it used to be- I remember going to a scrap store in Madison Wisconson and 99% of it said Provo Craft/ Utah on it For me that was the hardest part of being in Orlando- When I was there in 01 they had total of 1-2 stores and they were all an hour away... I have atleast 12 within a 15 minute drive of me... Not counting like Walmart or Target...

Lisa Bearnson used to live about 2 miles from me, and lives now about 30 min north of me

You Guys are funny. I live here in Salt Lake City, and yes it is the scrapbooking capital of the world. If you know where to look you can find a scrapbooking store around the corner. Furthermore, I went to the Making Memories Warehouse sale this week. In fact I am going back today. They had brads, eyelets, those metal phrases all for $1.00. I spent over $100.00 dollars. SHhhhhh don't tell my husband. My good friend is one of the designers listed on their web page. One of the ladies said that they drop all of the prices close to when the sale ends, so I am heading back to Centerville this morning. I was thinking I would list the items on Ebay. The reason I said you are funny, was because you tend to take things for granite. I have all the scrapbooking stuff and I don't even use it. So, I promise if you lived here you wouldn't think it was that cool. On I final note Utah is fabulous. I think we have a lot of preconcieved notions but it is a truely wonderful place to live. I am originally from Oregon. (one of the most liberal states) I now live in one of the most conservative. However, the people are so... friendly here. The state is gorgeous! Skiing, Hiking, Camping are only 15 min. away. The mountains are spectacular in SLC. I would never move.

Patty T...Vacation in Utah??? Just wanted to say that we took a family vacation to Utah a few years ago...and it was by far one of the BEST vacations we have taken. We can't wait to go back...matter of fact I think were planning it for next year.

I'll need to get the inside scoop on where all the hot scrap stores are located before the next trip. Last time I went through the listing in the back of the CK mags.

We drive through Utah when we visit my MIL at Henry's Lake, Idaho. There are some very beautiful areas of Utah and some very nice scrapbook stores. I usually get to stop at one or two (I don't push it). I've been to the Heartland Paper Co. in Sandy a few times.

I went to CKU Provo in '02 and had a shopping blast. My best friend and I are planning another road trip to CKU-A Provo this summer (crossing fingers we get in).

Yep, lots of good shopping - but then we've got good shopping here in soCal, too.

I just got back from the making memories sale. Today was awesome. All the brads and eyelets, stickers, and scissors were B1G1. The 12x12 albums were $5.00. I can't wait to go back next year. I was bummed I went the second day, because everything I bought was now 50% off. I missed the first day because we received 30 inches of new snow that day. I don't know how far in advance the web page announces their sales but it is worth a trip. For any of you who plan on visiting the Salt Lake City area MM has a retail store in Bountiful Ut. Their products are always 30% the regular retail prices. Or go to Roberts craft store. They offer 40% off anyone item weekly in the paper or you can print one off the internet at the web page. For those of you who are not familiar, Roberts is the Retail store for Provo Craft.
