So I already read the comprehensive FP thread. But I was curious if there was ever a time when someone with the knew something before reserving their FP.

I believe what OP is trying to say is, was there ever a time when someone wish they knew something before reserving their FP?
Oh. If that's it, yes. I would like to know a lot before booking fastpasses. Best one can generally do is understand the past and hope predictions for the future booking times are fairly accurate.

I wish I'd known that once you have already used one FP+ for the day, you cannot change anything but the time on the others - so no trying to change the experience.

Can't remember if this is in there but when booking pick the rides you want and then select the time options the farthest off from what you really want unless there is one that fits exactly what you want and you won't be modifying. So much easier to modify to exactly what you want when the other FP don't conflict with what you're trying to do and you'll see more options that will fit what you want.

that i didnt need to use a FP on Space Mt first thing in the morning. We walked on :), and the standby line didn't have anyone in it.

Not true - done it many times. You cannot change the park - but you can change the experience subject to availability.

Well it didn't work when I tried it and it ended in a call to customer service trying to get our FP+ back :) But obviously I did something wrong.

This is not true. We changed our FPs many times after using the first one.
(Edit: No relation to DavidNYC who you responded to above. ;) )

In the future when there is no line for your current FP choice, move it to a different experience and/or time.

When the FPs first came out I wish I had known than when a ride that you have a FP on gets shut down and you don't get to use that FP, that you get to choose a new FP for certain select rides.

When PP went down right at our FP time we were able to use the expired FP when it reopened or change to a new experience.

I look at show times and try to plan our day so that we dont have to back track too much. Especially in Animal Kingdom. For example, I might pick a Fastpass for the safari and get one for Expedition Everest a few hours later. Then after the safari we have time to wander through Pagnani forest and catch the Lion King show before walking over to Asia. It is a big park with alot of walking so if I can minimize the back and forth we enjoy it much more!

It sounds like you used the "cancel" function.
Do not ever "cancel" a FP+, unless you do not want to use one or more of your FP+ options at all that day.
Once you "cancel" a FP+, you can never get that FP+ option back (for any attraction) that day
(without the help of Disney I.T.)

That's not true. Say you have Haunted Mansion, Peter Pan and 7 Dwarfes. In your scenario, you have already used your Haunted Mansion. You can in fact still change -- change Peter Pan to Jungle Cruise, and change 7 Dwarfs to Space Mountain. Yep. Totally possible.

As I replied earlier in the post above yours, the OP looks to have mistakenly used the "cancel" function in MDE and, therefore, lost the ability to rebook those FPs.

It's nuts that Disney even put that irreversible "cancel" function in MDE at all.
I'll bet that there are thousands of guests who unwittingly click "cancel" and destroy their
ability to rebook FP+ in that park that day.

I wish I understood that the standby line for pirates and haunted mansion had become unwieldy in the evening. I may have used passes for that instead of riding Peter Pan for the millionth time.

I was able to get bonus Fastpasses for the great movie ride pretty easily.

As for bonus Fastpasses. That is a dangerous game, not much available to count on there.

Also almost everybody was using FP for dinosaur at DAK. So the standby line was prohibitive. I skipped that ride mostly this year because of it.

While controversial, I wish I had understood the FP+ with Rider Swap better. We did not realize that we could use that as an advantage until the end of our trip. I don't think we would have used it a lot because of the way my group tours, but it may have come in handy a couple of times.

By "bonus FastPasses, I'm guessing that you mean a 4th or 5th (etc.) FP booked by a guest the day-of.

The term "bonus FastPasses" on this board usually means extra FPs given out to guests by CMs to help compensate for a negative issue of some kind.

So I guess my question is what should you hit? Modify? I have not been able to book or FP yet so I am unfamiliar with the app. I think I need to search it on you tube.

When would I hit cancel? IF we had no intention of using any fp for that park?

Would I use CANCEL if I wanted to say wipe out all our MK fp because we decided to go to Epcot instead?

Thanks so much!!
