I Will Not Go To A WDW Theme Park On NYE Again!

I have friends that work at MGM. They said that NYE is the highest attendance date of the year at the parks. I would have thought it was Christmas day.

I just love the magic in this post :earboy2:

These boards are for people to discuss all things Disney, there is even a rumours section on Disboards. I think there are other message boards on the internet for cast members to have a whinge.

Ok, thanks for some of that info (that sold out dates are interesting for me, we will be there Jan 4th to 11th.) Some is just mater of opinon. (what is best, what isn't.) While I am happy DVC will have the dining plan in the future, I am sure it isn't the bes for everyone. (for example it makes it harder to get PS, or ADR's whatever you want to call them.)

However about number 14. :rotfl: :rotfl: That is pretty funny. While I am not a rumor monger, what would places like Dis and others be with out them? In fact what would WDW be with out them? The high ups know rumors keep things going, keep people talking and interested in WDW and coming back. It may be your personal pet peve, but you can hardly keep others from "sharing ideas". ;)

Also most Dis'ers are a rather informed bunch and know who to belive and what to take with a grain of salt. It is true that CM's spred the worst rumors. :)

We were at Guest Services, Epcot, NYE (trying to straighten out a double billing for our PAP!).
We were also told NYE is the busiest day -- even over Christmas.
And I can't tell you how many guests continually stood in line a long time TRYING to get a dinner reservation ANYWHERE. Even with a sign out front stating EVERY sit down was full, and a CM going down the line stating there was nothing. Guests continued to stand in line to be told the same at the desk. :confused3 Some really seemed to think a position would magically show on the screen.
We spoke to one couple who had an ADR on NYE and still waited an hour for a table.

We left on Christmas Eve, (wanting to stay longer) but frequently being advised that the crowds grow larger each day after the 24th. About 5 years ago we opted to stay until the 28th of December, on Christmas Day around 10am, there was an announcement on the monorail from Epcot to Mk that the Mk was closed to everyone except passholders. That was enough to convince us that New Year's Eve would be packed. After reading the post about Animal Kingdom, I might reconsider. Well, that's my 2 cents worth!

Well aren't you just a cheerful CM. I hope I don't get you on the phone when I make my next call to WDW.

I think we ALL know that there's a lot of stuff going on in this thread that SHOULDN'T be going on.

Remain civil with another.

Went once in 1998, and although it was fun, would not do it again. Just way too crowded for my taste. I had decided ahead of time which park I wanted to go to (MM), so I made PS for both lunch & dinner. Thank goodness I did! The park hit it's capacity by 10am and did not let up. Lines gallore. Lot's of people being turned away at restaurants, as they were completely booked. Found a place near the stage (in front of the Great Movie Ride) around 8pm and never left. Could'nt. There was a sea of people everywhere!! Took over an hour & a half to leave the park just after midnight to get back to my resort. The lines the next day at the MK were no better. 3 hour wait by 10am for Space Mountain! It was fun to do something different for New Year's, but I doubt I'd go again during that time.

I guess there are a few CM's that don't realize that Disney reads these boards. Why can't everyone voice their opinions in a nice and helping way here on the DIS? Seems a few people and their posts spoil it for everyone.

DD and I went to Epcot today. Why? I don't know. Maybe I have some sort of wish to be tortured. We got there about 10:30 am. I knew it would be crowded and really didn't expect to do any rides. It was a good thing. By 10:30am, the fast passes for Test Track were for 10:30 to 11:30 pm. The standby line was 90 minutes. We decided to go over to The Land around 1pm to see Circle Of Life. No problem there. We got right in. As we entered The Land pavilion, the CMs were standing out front yelling to the crowd that all fastpasses for Soarin were gone and the wait for the standby line was four hours. :scared1: Why would anyone wait in a line for four hours?

_
No offense, but unless you enjoy crowds (and there are actually people who do - we are not among those) then going during peak season is the worst decision you could make. There are so many other places you could go to enjoy NYE, and so many other uncrowded times to go to WDW.

you actualy hope you get me on the phone. I am one of the most knowledgable representatives at the center. I just didnt like tha fact that the boards were telling people to make reservations for next year 2006 and call us and say we made a mistake when we made the original reservations so people that wait till the last minute can get a reservation for new years eve and new years. that is my problem.

    Take your beefs elsewhere! Your spoiling the magic for all of us!

by telling the dine agent that you are on the dining plan and you really arent. You are screwing disney out of money. People pay for the dining plan. Also you must be staying in one of our 23 resorts on property to get the dining plan.

thanks

peak has started and its time to start booking your upcoming trips. Starting tomorrow the wait time for your call to be answered will be extremely high.

I hope that you the guests have a wonderful time booking your upcoming trip. Please just don't lie to us. Thanks

It helps if you use the "quote" feature so people know what you are talking about.

I don't think anyone is telling the server they are on the dining plan and getting a free meal. Where did you read this? Their card would be swiped and the server would know they aren't on the dining plan hence the guest would be paying for their meal.

I think with each passing year, it gets worse and worse. Glad I came home early last week - what a good choice - but I'll go back anytime I can, including NYE

To the OP -- sorry that NYE was not enjoyable for you. We tried in 1996 (I think?) and found Epcot to be the least congested of any of the parks during that Christmas - NY week, but still. Yikes! We decided to leave but my sister & I wanted to go back for the festivities and fireworks. Unfortunately we were turned away when we came back and we were so disappointed that nobody had told us when they stamped our hands that we might get turned back when we returned. Oh well, that would never happen to me now, thanks to the DIS!

To the CMs who are sniping at each other and at all of us annoying guests -- I'm not sure why you are here behaving so unprofessionally. None of us are the guests who ruined your day, but you are taking out your frustrations in the wrong place. I'm dismayed that the sort of after work venting that EVERYone needs to do once in a while is taking place here, and it's putting a shadow over my view of CM's. (Who, by the way, I have always thought of as the keepers of the magic, and have treated with the according respect!)

I don't think anyone hopes to get a CM who is confrontational and argumentative, in any department of WDW.

For the CMs that want to whine and fight with each other, take it to SGT.

I was also in Epcot on NYE, and I also left before midnight. Mostly due to extreme fatigue. (I had been up since 4:45am) ... the loud music, strobes, and excessive smoking in non-designated smoking areas didn't help and by the end of the evening I had a pretty bad headache. I did enjoy the time I spent there though. The friends that I was with stayed for the fireworks, and said they were great.

Thank you to all who posted helpful thoughts. For the rest, well....I hope you have a magical New Year. :)

And this, my friends, will be my first Thread Closing of 2006, for obvious reasons. Play nice for the next 363 days, hey? ;)
