I will NEVER go back to DisneyLand again!

Folks, reread the OP's letter, she pretty much stated she didn't blame Disneyland for the problem but rather didn't like the treatment she received. Big difference in my book. To the Op, I think you are starting to feel attacked and I feel bad for you. I do think a lot of these responses are high on judgement and low on sympathy. If I had a dime for every time I lost something really important I'd be rich, I guess most other people don't have that problem! I do want to second that at WDW, tickets are sometimes replaced, I have seen it happen (though not experienced it personally). I have to say however that each time I go to WDW they seem to be getting tougher with ticket policies to eliminate people using other peoples tickets (hence the biometric scanners) so it may be that WDW will stop, or has already stopped, replacing lost tickets as well. But, can we all agree the situation of having one Disney park replace a lost ticket in the past, might make for some expecatations on this poster's part? Yes, it does say on the back of the ticket not replaceable if lost or stolen, it probably says that on the back of the WDW tickets too, but she still got them replaced.

In closing I want to say to Dana that here on the Disneyland side of disboards we Disneyland lovers are frequently treated to comparisons between WDW and DL by WDW regulars who find Disneyland a pale comparison. It gets really old and I know I get really defensive sometimes too! The castle's too small, the food is lousy, DCA is pathetic, it just goes on and on. I am not at all saying thats you but it does happen on this board and I think others are obvioulsy reactive to it as well. So that may be why some people are defending the park they love in this thread, because they get sick of the comparisons and negativity by a few WDW regulars. I didn't get that from your OP and letter, but I also didn't see much in the way of positive comments about Disneyland either, which might have given some creedence to your complaints in some people's eyes. I also think the title to your thread put some people off, because it was so negative even though I didn't think the letter itself was. On that same line of reasoning if I went over to the WDW side and posted "Why I will never return to WDW again" I can pretty much bet the farm I'd be getting a lot of the same type responses you are, but in much larger numbers. Disney means a great deal to all of us, or we wouldn't be on this board in the first place, and we all take our "home" park seriously! On all of this I have no doubt you were treated rudely just as I have no doubt it could (and does) have happened at WDW too. I hope you will give Disneyland another chance sometime, I frequent both WDW and DL regularly and find them both magical. I couldn't give up one or the other! I hope your experience on this Disneyland board doesn't just sour you on Disneyland even more. Please let us know if you get a response to your letter. And I hope all of us, myself included, will learn from your experience and keep those tickets safe and sound!

I'm sorry about your experience. I always believe it is useful for consumers to write letters to corporations or institutions when they dissatisfied with their consumer experiences. We have so little power and individual agency in many situations and letter-writing lets our voices be heard!

It seems to me that your letter is a broad complaint that sometimes strays from its objective of addressing CM behavior (depending on what precisely is the letter's objective). In my profession, I do a lot of reading and workshopping of writing, so send me a PM if you want some suggestions. [Not that I think you posted this out of a desire for that kind of feedback; I'm just kind of in that zone right now, it being the beginning of the academic year and all. Take the offer for what it's worth.]

Happens all the time! If you want, just "edit" out the text on the subsequent posts and say "double post" instead.

Disney World has replaced our paper tickets on multiple occasions.

With all do respect, maybe you should keep better track of your tickets. I know that mishaps can happen, but it seems like you have this trouble a lot. Sorry that DL could not help you out this time.

Well said, this is a response that says something without attacking.

BTW Didn't we just share a cruise together??

Could be! We were on the Magic from 9/2 to 9/9. Oh how I wish I was there again right now! Did you have as much fun as we did?

We were on the same cruise, and yes, thank you, we had a blast. The kids are wondering why room service is not waking them up in the morning. We did a week at OKW, then the cruise, and then back to Wilderness Lodge. When are you going back to my, I mean the ship?

Since the 50th anniversary started at DL I have been no less than 25 times. NO KIDDING. It's true. I live in Bakersfield, CA, which is only 2 hours from Anaheim. Only ONCE during all of those trips was I ever treated rudely. A CM was mad because everyone in our family (12) all had annual passes and were buying some collectible at the Downtown Disney store. The gal just about fell over when we all produced passes and bought 24 of this certain pin that was limited edition. She was very happy and snotty to tell me that only passholders could buy the item.
It isn't fair to compare DL to WDW; do you think? Anyone can have a bad day; I for one think that people need to be more responsible with their tickets. I lost my pass once (was wearing a pair of jeans with a hole in the pocket and out it came). I lucked out because it was turned back in.
We are going to WDW next year; I will be the first to post anything bad that happens there.

Hey! I live in B-Town too! :wave2: :) Everyone now.... "It's a small world after all..."

I agree.

Andromedaslove. Bottom line is that people in Customer Relations should be trained to deal with us - the public. If the company is having internal issues, the resolution of those issues should be seamless to us.

I'm sorry you had such a negative experience at Disneyland. It is truly a wonderful park to visit.

I'm also glad that you did enjoy yourself on the whole.

Don't expect to get a friendly reaction to you bashing Disneyland on a Disneyland forum.

Perhaps the CMs were having a bad day because they were constantly being bombarded by irresponsible people losing stuff or not showing up for their reservations at the time their reservation is for (a reservation doesn't mean you can just show up any time that day, think fastpass people!) I can honestly say i've never experienced anything but smiling happiness from CMs at DL, at WDW however I had the pleasure of hearing predjudice remarks, snarky attitudes and a bunch of downright mean old CMs. If you're going to choose to let 1 or 2 people of the hundreds (or thousands) that work at DL spoil your attitude so much that you'll never return, that's great for the rest of us who LOVE walt's park... 1 less family to wait behind in lineups!

I think a lot of people who don't normally go to DL were there this past weekend for the half marathon. There was a lot of frustration at the Expo with the long lines and long wait to purchase half marathon merchandise. Toss that in with people who are anxious about the race and the CMs just may have encountered a lot of WDW people who had never been to DL before. It is quite different. Add in the OP's frustration at not being able to get her tickets replaced and you have a situation where things get said and no one is happy.

There was Early Entry on Sat morning along with a few other unusual situations. I know that the CMs were turning people away from the turnstiles that morning because they didn't have the correct ticket to get in early. I heard a few CMs comment on the fact that there were so many people who didn't have a clue about their tickets.

I kept getting surprised about things on this trip. I was lucky that I had the vouchers to get into Toontown. I was lucky that we had the park hoppers that gave us one early entry.

Add all this together and feelings get hurt.

I think DL is pretty cool, everything is so close. The castle surprised me the first time I saw it, it was so tiny. But some of the ride there far surpass their counterpart at WDW. I'll never go on POTC at WDW again without thinking how cool it is in DL - waaaaaay better.

To the OP, send your letter, maybe read it over again before you send it. But let them know your concerns. These are two different places, though, and you have to realize that they are not the same.

I'm glad you wrote a letter to DL if you felt you were mistreated in any way.

I hope that ALL OF US remember to write letters to DL/WDW when we encounter the many magical CMs who sprinkle our vacations with pixie dust!

Now who lost the tickets? If it is DL, fine, go ahead and blame them. If it is you, rethink before sending the letter. You are blaming DL if you blame the cms for how it is handled, they represent DL.

There is no excuse for being treated rudely. And hey, lost tickets happen and policies can suck. However, if I let 2 negative cast member incidents ruin my trip and make me state I'd never go back somewhere, 1990 would have been my last trip to WDW!

So, Andromedaslove, give DL another chance. Don't let something like this ruin your thoughts of DL.

Sorry to hear you started off your visit to DL with such bad luck and then a bad customer service experience. It is a shame because I think DL can be a very magical spot.

I will say that I have noticed the some of the gals who work at the BB front desk have attitudes and are not very friendly. I compare them to some of the CM's that work at CRT at MK. Those are the only 2 restaurants at DL and WDW where I have consistantly run into CM's with pretty bad attitudes. I have watched them be downright rude to guests on more than one occassion.

Anyway, hope you will change your mind and give DL another chance someday if you make it back to So Cal again. :)

We visited DL for the 1st time this past summer. Though we had a great time, I wasn't able to fully relax the way I do at WDW and one of the major reasons was the paper ticket. It just didn't seem durable to me and I felt as if I could tear it or lose it at any moment. At WDW we stay onsite and get a plastic room key and just knowing that WDW will replace it should I lose it is a great comfort. At DL we also stayed onsite (GCH) and still got a paper ticket. And believe it or not, we ran into more...err, not necessarily rude CM's but I would describe them as "a bit less than thrilled" CM's. They didn't make us feel as if we were in a 'special' place. Lucky for us, we still felt the magic! :)

Not trying to excuse the CM but maybe the difference in CM attitudes is b/c WDW is more like a 'resort' in the way it's spaced out and themed. (including all resorts) DL, although wonderful and charming, does feel more like a theme park that one would visit for a day and then head home. It doesn't have that "resort" feel to it. Maybe, just maybe...DL CM's view the guests as people who are just visiting for a day or two and not 'vacation-ers?' Don't know if that would have anything to do with it but it was something that crossed my mind when we were there. Regardless, no one has to right to be rude.

Either way...we are already trying to fit in two Disney vacations a year! ;) One to WDW and the other to DL!

Definitely give it another chance!

Don't let one CM ruin it for ya. I agree...there is alot that DL could learn from WDW, as far as catering a bit more to the "traveler", but again, don't let that one experience sour you on the entire park! It has a magic all it's own, as does WDW. :sunny:

(off topic...I know alot of people aren't always thrilled with CA but our family had a great time there! :thumbsup2 It's a great park to visit!)

Wow. What a magical attitude. *sigh*

Goodness, we all love visiting Disney...why all the hostility towards one person who had one bad experience. I'm sure if you were in her shoes, you'd be upset as well. I didn't read her original post as 'bashing DL.' She was just sharing an experience she had while visiting DL. If she had this experience at WDW, I'm sure she'd be just as upset. I know I would.

Instead, why don't we show her examples of why she and her family should give DL another chance. Being rude to her isn't going to change her mind.

Why should she give DL another chance??

Here's one. They have the Indiana Jones ride. I loved it. It was great! Oh and here's another. The Monsters Inc. ride. Too cute! Of course that happens to be one of my favorite movies so of course I loved the ride! Well, I could go on and on but I'll let others join in too. :sunny:

Great idea Harmony...I love the matterhorn, I am pretty sure it is unique to DL...also have heard here that POTC is the best at DL...how about no humidity - that has to be a great reason too!!
