I don't post often on this board but you all are very helpful so I thought I'd ask my questions.

We will hopefully be going next year and I will be traveling with my parents. My dad is 70 with Multiple Myeloma - a form of bone marrow cancer - and congestive heart failure. His cancer has caused him to lose 10 inches in height and he has shortness of breath at times. He can walk like a bat out of hell for 10 paces and then needs to rest. He has to sleep in a recliner because he can't lay down and now has a little hunchback.

My mom just had the first of two knee replacements.

They both look great but is there anything special that I need to know to tell CM's? I will be renting a recliner from Care Medical (I think) and bringing a wheelchair from home for Dad. However, my main concern is that people will see him getting out of the chair and walking perfectly - I don't want to have anyone say anthing unnecessary (ie hurtful) but I guess I can't stop that either.

Any thoughts?

Don't worry about it. At his age and condition I don't think people will say to much. And if they do just tell them to *&!%$@#. But in a reality I don't think people will say much if anything.

ITA. You won't hear any comments. As you walk up to any attraction, a CM will direct you where to go or tell you what to do. We went through the same thing with DW a couple years ago and heard nary a comment. If there were rude stares, they were behind me and I sure didn't notice them.

Thanks you guys. It's just something you think about you know? I mean, my poor Dad used to be almost 6 feet tall and now he is shorter than me (I'm 5' 2"). When they see people they haven't seen in at least a year their comment is usually "My God, what happened to you?!?"

I know it's your initial reaction but people should really *think* before they say something.

I don't think you will hear any comments. It's usually younger people who get comments, from most of what I've heard/seen.
Besides YOU know that he needs the wheelchair, so it really doesn't matter all that much what other people think. Your family's opinion is the only one that matters.
