When the TA called to get the final total from DCL this morning, she asked if we had already been given the first time cruiser discount with the code that I found posted here. They told her no we couldn't use that but there would be something special waiting for us in our cabin??? Does anyone know what this may be??? Thanks for any ideas. :) Just increases the level of anticipation & excitement here. DS's birthday is going to be celebrated our first night out so I'm not sure if it is related to that? We didn't order anything special. Hmmm....

I will be a first time cruiser Dec. 27. I booked my cruise through DCL and they didn't mention anything about something special in our cabin. I didn't even know there was a discount for a first time cruiser.

We took our first cruise in 4/02, we had no idea about any discount's but when we boarded there was a card board treasure chest full of goodies. Wine, crackers, cookies, candy, crackers, and all sorts of snacks. We had no idea why we got this but when be were leaving we noticed there we a lot of people leaving with their card board treasure chest. We are going again in 4/04, I hope to get something like this again. This time we will book through Disney. Last time we went through Travelosity.com.

How do you go about getting this first time cruiser special? Hubby and I have taken one cruise on a different line, but the kids have never cruised before. Should I call my agent? IS this something that only people who book with DCL get? Just wondering? Melissa

We booked thru our TA. I saw the code REF posted for a $50 discount that some people requested when paying off their cruise. It's worth a shot!

On our first cruise we had no discount for a first time cruiser and no cool gifts waiting,, I think it is GREAT they are making it special for first timers now,, watch out though you will get hooked!! DCL is my addiction, I spend the entire year counting down to the next one! It's like that potato chip commercial , I just can't have one want the whole bag.. heck if I had it my way I would just live on the ship!

LOL! Ann, I have no intention of leaving that ship without a ressie for our next cruise in hand! :) The special next fall with the $400 credit really looks good. ;) I even told DH about that one & the Birthday Cruise April 2005.

Do all first time cruisers get a gift left in their room, or does it depend on who you book your cruise with? Also, do you need to tell them you are a first time cruiser or will they check and see? I was going to order a basket for the room filled with goodies, but if DCL is going to leave me a gift then I won't do that.

I suggest calling whoever you booked with to see if DCL will apply the REF code to your ressie. They may tell you yes, or no & maybe a gift. I have no idea why they noted that we would get it, like I said. It could be because DS is turning 5 the day before we sail?

I'm told that returning cruisers in the Castaway club get some special treatment. Pins of some sort and a special dance of some kind with free drinks. I was also told this was with Disney only, no travel agents.

I booked my first cruise through Disney and we did not get anything at all. I know if you booked through DU and their were 8 families or more booked thruogh them you used to have something in your room when you got there, I was looking forward to that this time since I booked through DU but I don't know if they are even doing that anymore.

That's not correct about only getting a "castaway club" gift if you book with Disney and not travel agents!
ANY returnng cruiser will get the gift as long as the agent advises DCL that they are a castaway club member!:D

On our first cruise , we didn't receive anything. We went through DCL. Maybe some of those things were from your travel agent?

We went on our second in June. As Castaway Club members, we received a DCL Castaway club(one per stateroom ) 2 castaway Club pins and an invitation to a cocktail party for castaway club members.

My sister and her family were on the same one, they did not receive anything special.

Before we booked our upcoming trip, i did a ton of price shopping. I heard a couple of times about the "First Time Cruiser" discount. We had cruised before but never with Disney. I ended up booking with Costco - the discount was not offered. I asked, The agent called. I got it. I think it's $50 room credit for for our cabin and $25 for my mom's inside stateroom.

I just booked our 1st cruise for July 2004 with a TA, and I asked her about the 1st time cruiser disc. She said she called DCL, and it is only for the remainder of 2003. Has anyone gotten it beyond 2003?

I have just paid off cruise - it's coming up soon! We booked through DCL, instead of through a TA. Is this something we can take advantage of too?

Is it just the "REF" code mentioned - or did I miss the code?

Thanks much for all the help!

I would like to know too - I just emailed my TA to see what she knows about it. When I was originally planning on getting two cabins (week of 12/27 double occupancy only) she told me she would throw in a $50 credit for each room to help lessen the cost. I will post what I get back from her.

We just returned a few weeks ago from our first cruise with Disney (4-night) and we didn't receive a "first time cruiser" discount but did have an early book discount. I booked with DCL and did receive a $50 stateroom credit for a Disney Club Card. Also, there were no special gifts in the stateroom for first time cruiser.

I know that the Disney Club card discount is eliminated after this year but I believe that there is a stateroom credit if you use your Disney Visa card

I'm wondering - should the room credit be mentioned somewhere?
I don't see it anywhere...Anyone else that knew they were going to get the credit see any mention of it on thier paperwork?
JuJu

No its not anywhere on your documents. We received a note in our stateroom I think on the 2nd or 3rd day, stating there was a $50 credit on our account.
