My middle school in AZ was all door to outside. Eight buildings and a main drag that was covered, but every room opened from the outside.
High school (as you have seen in the movies ... Bill & Ted, Just One of the Guys, etc.) still had a lot of outdoors, but you did go through hallways in buildings to get to your classroom. Lockers were outside in a covered area. (I hated those lockers, btw)
The super odd thing to me? Neither one of those schools is recognizable. I mean, COMPLETELY UNRECOGNIZABLE! To the point it is a completely different school. On the same land, but the buildings are 100 % different. That

is mind-blowing to me.
Especially when I could go back to Michigan and see not only my elementary and middle school but my parents high schools and they are all exactly the same.
