Today I opened gifts from my 1st grade students. :teacher:

I opened Jimmy's & Jonny's (they're a set of twins in my room) & thanked them for the Starbuck's gift card, which, btw, does not have a dollar amount listed anywhere.

Jimmy: "That was a birthday gift to my mom that she didn't want. She didn't know what to get you, so she gave it to you".

Me: "Well that was very nice of her. Who gave it to her?"

Jimmy: "My dad".

I just now looked up online the amount on the card. When you type in the card number, the amount comes up & any transactions, if there have been any. Well.....

It said:
Dec. 10 - card activated $25.00
Dec. 11 - $7.16 used

New balance $17.84

I was regifted with a USED GIFT CARD :rotfl2:

Now before anyone starts flaming me, saying that a teacher is complaining about receiving a gift card, please know that I love my gift card....so much better than any candles, lotions, or picture frames. I've just never been given a used one before! :lmao:

Anyone else regifted yet this year?

I've been regifted.

A couple of years ago I organized a secret santa at my work. The rule was to spend $10 on the gift. The person that got my name (an assistant manager) gave me a hand painted christmas plate. Well the plate had 2 chips out of it and obvious wear on it too. :guilty: I haven't organized any more secret santa's after that.:sad2:

Two years ago for Christmas my son (24) gave my husband a really cool mustache trimmer.... we gave it to him (son) for his birthday the previous October. :rotfl2: I think we have since given it to my father :rotfl2:

I regift and I am not ashamed.
I dont mind getting a regifted gift.

BUT... a used GC is pretty funny :lmao:

I have regifted and I don't mind being regifted either, but in both cases, the item needs to be new.

That is hillarious! :rotfl2:

DS was given a Blockbuster gift card for his birthday one year. It had a ZERO balance on it the first time we tried to use it!
I just smiled at the clerk, said, "Oh, no problem, I wasn't sure how much credit was left." I paid for DS's rentals with my debit card.
The mom of the child who gave DS the card was crazy, so I wasn't really surprised.
Maybe the CARD was the gift and I was supposed to load money on it myself? :confused3

Or maybe the cashier didn't load the card properly.:confused3

That is too funny. Nothing wrong with regifting. But the regift shouldn't be used. Still a funny story you can retell for years to come.

I have to laugh at this because I regifted and got caught. Last week my unit at work had our little party. My supervisor loves trivia and so she did 3 little trivia contests. Well i won all three, but only took a gift the first time and told those in second to take the others. no big deal. Well I got a Dunkin Donuts gift card, but i dont use DD so i decided what the heck i will give it to one of my daughters teachers that i know enjoys it. Well when my 7 year old came home she said that the teacher loved it. Then my little one said that the teacher was surprised I knew so much trivia. I asked how she would know that. And i am sure you can guess the rest. I got busted. But it was good intentions and a new card. I wasn't even going to give her anything because my budget was tight.

That is really funny. What is even better is the fact that at that age kids don't get it and they just tell it like it is.

You are so right. Some of the parents would be mortified at some of the things I have heard.

any chance Mom doesn't know she regifted:confused3 maybe the twins helped themselves to her DD giftcard:rotfl2:

Where did I here the story of a really bad gift (that may have even been a perishable item in a jar, or something) that was sneeked back into people's houses during holiday parties or birthdays.

then they had to sneek it into someone elses house..

Mikeeee

Laurie.............that just cracks me up. :rotfl2: It was the perfect ending to my hectic day. :lmao:

OP, i think that is one of the funniest re-gift stories I have heard :rotfl:

I bet the mom hadn't even realized the Starbucks card had been used once before. Or maybe Dad used it once then passed it on to her and failed to mention it had less than the original value.

I once got a WalMart card for a co-worker who was experiencing a rough time financially. I tried to be discreet and left it on her desk before she came in for the day. Unfortunately, I got word that when she tried to use it there was no value so I had to take identify myself (so much for discretion) and take it back to WalMart to have it loaded properly.

I really felt horrible that she actually shopped then either paid for her purchases out of her pocket or had to put it back. Although it wasn't my fault, I was truly embarassed.
