I was lost

Somehow I got totally lost as a user. I just re-registered as myself with my same old id. I could not log in - boards told me my userid was invalid, could not send myself a password reminder email - boards did not know my email. When I tried to search for my posts, it said my username was not found. But if I searched for posts I knew I'd replied to, I could find my old posts with my id, but may status was 'Guest' and my Registered date was 'Not Yet'. What happened to me? (you aren't trying to tell me something are you?)

Believe it or not I was the same name I am now - MaryT. I was so lost it let me add myself back with the same user name.

This has been going on since 9/17 (at least that's the date it claimed I last 'visited' the boards. But I got an email from webmaster@wdwinfo.com dated 10/9 - so I don't know how that happened. I've probably confused things by adding myself back with the same name, but I sent an email yesterday and never got a reply so I figured it was quicker to add a new id and post on the tech board. I tried my old id, never dreaming it would actually work.

I only show one "MaryT" or anything even close to that name.

Can you give me an example post done by your former self?

OK - go to search - and search by username 'Saffron' for posts one month ago and older. Go to the second page of topics, and look about 3/4 of the way down the page - you will see a topic I started titled 'Does anyone else feel like throwing up?' (it was not long after the attacks). You can see that the post is by 'MaryT', a 'Guest' (not a 'Welcomed Guest', which is what my new posts show), and that I registered 'Not Yet', and my post count is 'N/A'. It is very odd! Also, if you try searching for posts by MaryT, only this thread comes up.

PS - you'll also notice that the little envelope next to my post (with my former identity) - doesn't show the 'black' dot showing I (my new identity) contributed to it.

Hope this is not too much trouble, it just makes me feel like I am going crazy!

At one time, you may not have needed to register to post as MaryT. Since now you need to register as a "name" to post, you chose "MaryT" and the previous posts somehow linked into your own by default.

It may just be a glitch, but I'll send this to the administrators anyway.

I was previously registered as MaryT - since around 11/99 (before registration was required, I posted as Mary, but that name was taken when I registered). But the problem is not that the previous posts are linking to me by default - but that my OWN previous posts are not linking to me now - somehow the board does not recognize the OLD me (MaryT) as being the NEW me (MaryT) - ok, maybe I should not have re-signed up with my same name, because I probably confused the issue - but I really would like to be 'whole' again!
