Just got the news that they were closing the Carribean Beach on Sept 6. We had reservations there from Sept 26-Oct 2! Dreams is working on a sollution, but I was really looking foward to staying there again. They say they'll get us in another moderate resort or a great discount on a delux resort but DH is worried that we'll get stuck at an all star resort :(

Is the refurbishment of Carribean Beach affecting anyone else???

Read the information on www.mousesavers.com about this.. Mary has some great advice/insight.. it may really put things in a better light for you...

Sorry to hear about it!

Wow, I didn't even know CBR was closing! I really liked that resort! I'm sorry this happened to you and that you have to change your reservations now.

Hi,

Sorry this has upset your plans, but I really doubt Disney is going to put you in an Allstar room

I am sure you will be given a mod rroom or an upgrade to a deluxe!

Have you checked the resorts board discussion. Some mighty unhappy customers over there!

ShuisFan, OPR is being remodeled for about 2 months at CBR. CBR scheduled to reopen early Dec.

Herc.

I posted on this as an FYI a couple days ago, with some links. Several folks, (I know wdwhound for sure, and trying to think who else), but search is broke again, so I can't find it.

That's news to me. Sorry to hear it's proving to be an inconvenience... But hope you get something better!

I am disappointed also. We are staying at CBR for six nights over Halloween. But, I am excited about the possibility of an upgrade!! I'm not getting my hopes up though.

Don't let it ruin your trip. It will all work out.

I am very concerned about this as well (In fact my comments on this may have gotten a bit out of hand on the resorts board (LOL)).

In any case, tell your husband not to worry about being offfered the Allstars. Disney will probably offer you another moderate., They may not upgrade you, but I am sure they wont downgrade you to the Allstars either.

Thank you WDWHound. When are you set to go? I'm going Sept 26- Oct 2. My main fear is that it's not that far away so everything could be all booked already. It's a big resort and that's a lot of people to relocate you know.

Disney wouldn't shut down a resort without having a contingency plan for the people with reservations... they'd lose money if they did, and Disney isn't one for losing money!

I'm sure that Disney won't downgrade you. My guess is that they'd offer you a deluxe at no additional charge if they absolutely had no moderate rooms left before they'd downgrade you. What they'll probably do is offer people the choice to upgrade for a small increase in fee or go to another moderate. Enough people will take the upgrade that they'll have plenty of moderate rooms left.

They didn't offer any discounts for CSR this fall, so I'm guessing that it was their plan to use it if they did end up closing CBR.

When this has happened in the past (with Port Orleans Riverside and French Quarter) Disney offered to move guests to another moderate resort at the same rate (including any discount rate they had, even if the discount rate was no longer available) OR offered the choice of a couple of deluxe resorts at a discounted price.

They definitely will NOT move anyone to a lower level of resort.

It's hard to be patient, I know, but they definitely will contact everyone who is affected with the resort choices to move to and any upgrade discounts. And if you're working with Dreams, they will definitely contact you once Disney has contacted them. :)
