I was invisible at the RainForest Cafe!

In general I have found the service at RF to be good for such a busy establishment.

Someone asked if the waiter completely ignored me or if he just didn't chatter (flirt) with me: I certainly was asked what I wanted to order and was given my food in a timely manner...but while he talked to my daughter he acted as if I wasn't there and only begrudgingly asked the perfunctory questions. If I were by myself and he acted that way I would have judged him hostile and rude.

It was a matter of courtesy. I really didn't think they (he was training someone) were doing it on purpose...I simply think they saw a pretty girl and got excited about talking with her. Had I been someone else I would have left a rotton tip (I didn't, the food was good and the service quick) and I may have complained of the treatment. I simply did not know how to bring it to their attention without seeming like a jealous old lady. I thought it would be in their best interest to know how they were being perceived by me (the paying customer).

I'm in the same boat as you, my friend;) (see pic below).
Everywhere I go with DD we seem to get better service. Especially if young men are involved in the service. We had dinner on Mother's Day last year at The OC Mining Co and the waiter flirted with her all night and actually asked her for her phone number at the end.:sad2: I say enjoy it while you can, cause those days are gone for me!

PS And yes, you are beautiful.;)

Lulubelle, your daughter is quite attractive as well - but it obviously runs in the family, as you and the gentleman (I assume he is dad?) are very good looking. Seriously! If I didn't think it, I wouldn't post. Hearing your story and Rosie's reminds me of the old days, when I would go places with certain friends and the waiters would be hitting on me and not them, and sneaking free drinks for me onto the tab, much to my friends' chagrin. Oh, to be young again.... I was actually so blind to it that when one friend told me that a waiter was clearly hitting on me, I didn't agree - until I saw the free drink on the check for no reason! Sigh.... those glory days are long over....:sad2: And then, on the flip side, I went out with certain other friends and the waiters couldn't stop flirting with them and ignored me!!! So I have been on both sides of the issue! Living in Southern California, unfortunately, lends itself to this sort of thing - waiters favoring the customers they are attracted to! EVery other person, no matter what profession they are in, looks like an actor, musician, stripper, porn star or model!

I have been to the RFC a couple of times with pals, and I think we had waitresses both times. One time we were seated waaaaay at the very top of the restaurant, had to climb a bunch of stairs and dodge the wait staff carrying large trays on the way up, sat outdoors, at a cramped table by a very hot heat lamp. I was miserable. But the food was good and very abundant. They give you a lot of food there. The second experience was much better. I am just kind of right down the middle on RFC. We never get to sit by the aquariums, which is what we wanted. I would like to do that one time. Otherwise, I could take it or leave it! If I never ate there again, I would live, and if someone wanted to go back there, I would be okay with it.

My Mom makes fun of me and tells me that everytime she goes somewhere, she wants me to go (not that I don't already) because she gets better service when I'm around.. :confused3

From a daughter's POV. I find it friggin awkward and weird when a guy (waiter, bag boy at the store, whatever..) starts flirting with me in front of my Mom.. Even if he is cute.. :sad2:
