I was cut after the first round, so am I still in consideration?

I went to the audition in Philly and the choreographer and casting agents said that we are still in consideration even if we get cut after the first round. I think the first round was for parade performers. Is that accurate? I've been told that if you don't get to go to animation that means you are no longer in consideration, but the casting agents there said otherwise.

I just want to know because I don't want to get my hopes up! xD

I don't really understand your question. I will answer what I had anticipated the question to be when I opened the thread.

Being cut during an audition for a character does not mean you are no longer under consideration for a college program role.

My daughter applied for the college program. She went to a character audition before being accepted into the CP and was cut after the first round. She was still accepted into the CP just not as a character.

I dont know if this helps or not.

Questions:

Did you fill out a form with your name and contact info?

Was your height measured?

Did they take a Polaroid picture of you?

If you answered NO to any of these questions, then you probably are not in consideration for entertainment anymore.

Dont know if that helps.

I'm sorry if my question didn't make sense... I thought it did, lol. But the choreographer and casting agents said that if we get cut after the first round we are still in consideration.

I had to fill out the sign in sheet that asked for my name and if I was auditioning for the CP or general recruitment. They did measure my height before I was taken into the room for the first round. After I was cut, I asked if I am no longer in consideration and the casting agent that I will be notified if I am or not via email. They have all of the CPs who are auditioning in the system already and will notify us that way.

It is really hard to know because every audition is different. When my DD auditioned she was kept to the very end with 3 others and videotaped dancing. Her friends were cut earlier and waited outside for her. They all assumed she would be the only one chosen for entertainment or at least she would be a parade performer and maybe they would get characters. Well, DD and 2 of the other three got character spots. The other one never heard a thing. Poor girl finally called casting after weeks of waiting and was told she was undecided. She finally just gave up. Her original CP placement was attractions and she wound up loving it! DD later found out her color code was higher than her friends and she would later be trained for shows and parades and her non dancing friends could not be unless they were able to raise their color codes.
So if they told you that you are being considered you probably are--we were sure DD's friends were not being considered and they were so.....

What I learned from this thread, and experience at the Austin audition with my son today, is that there is quite a variation of auditions. My son had the same experience today that you had in Philly. Signed in...just name and GR in his case. Measured. Did the movement/dance...then cut. He did have a headshot and resume with him, but didn't know who to leave it with, so in his case, today was it.

Wishes91, I can definitely relate to you, as I was also cut in the first round of the auditions in Detroit. I walked away feeling like I did my best, though, so I don't regret anything, but am disappointed I didn't get to stay longer. I've done a lot of research on the auditions themselves based on others' experiences, and I've learned that Disney has definitely hired people cut in the first round, so I'm not giving up hope. Sometimes a casting director will see what they like/want right away, and that's all they need to make a decision. It's hard to ever predict what will happen because we don't know what roles/heights they need to fill, and which ones they don't. E-mails probably won't be sent out for another couple of weeks, but am hoping for some good news! If not, I'm ready to go for it again in 6 months. :) Best of luck to you!

Just to add more confusion - different auditions have different "first rounds."

Some first rounds are just movement across the floor - they are checking for basic rhythm and type casting. If you are cut from this round, you are not likely to be selected as a Performer, but are still in consideration for another role within the CP.

Then we have the second round, which some locations use as their first round...

This round has a dance and some animation. If you make it through this round then you are being considered for a Character Role.

The last round varies again based on location. Some keep a few back and video tape them performing the same dance already learned. Others are taught an entirely new (and more complicated dance) and are video taped performing that. Either way, these are considered the strongest dancers and are video taped doing something.

If auditioning in Orlando - there is also a puppeteer round, but typically they do not do puppeteer while on the road.

I've been through all of these different types - the variations are usually based on the size of the audition.

And to add one more level - everyone who attends an audition is being considered for a face role. If they have costuming/cosmo there, those individuals would be fit. If they do not have costuming with them, then they'll usually take a couple extra photos from a couple different angles.
