I was almost named.....

I was going be Emily, but my siblings, all 7 of them, said Emily was too old fashioned for a modern girl of 1980...so I'm Kimberly instead. My middle name was set in stone, so whatever they picked for a first name had to go with it. A few years later, the sister who protested the most against Emily got a kitten and called it Emily. Go figure.

If I were a boy I know my middle name was to be Warren, after my grandfather, but I don't know what my first name would have been.

After two granddaughters, when my mom found out she was pregnant, everyone (especially my grandmother...) was convinced that I was gonna be a boy... Man, were they ever wrong... :lmao:

My parents made a deal that if I was a boy, my dad would name me, and if I was a girl, mom would.

My dad wanted to name me Lucas Jerome. Jerome after his great-grandfather. I guess he just liked the name Lucas... But I was a girl. :cool1: So mom won, and I was named Ashley Catherine.

Which is a perfectly fine name, except I know about 6 other Ashley's... ;)

Me: Why did you name me Ashley?
Mom: Cause I didn't know anybody else named Ashley and it was different.
Me: But half the people I meet are named Ashley!!

If my paternal grandmother had her way, I would have been named after both my grandmother's. So, I would have been Ethel Iva or Iva Ethel. Thankfully, my mother named me after her favorite aunt so I am Evelyn.

Me: Why did you name me Ashley?
Mom: Cause I didn't know anybody else named Ashley and it was different.
Me: But half the people I meet are named Ashley!!

That's the same conversation I've had with my Mom. :lmao: I always had 2 or 3 other Ashley's in all my classes!

I'm Erin. I was almost Elizabeth or Emily...

When I was about 9, we had a family move in down the street with 3 girls...Erin, Emily, and Elizabeth. It totally freaked my mom out... :rotfl:

If I was a boy, I was going to be Joshua. :goodvibes

My mom never had an ultrasound, but "knew" I was a girl, so I was Sascha (personally not a fan!) until 7.5 months. Then she randomly, suddenly decided (without consulting my father) that I was to be Kylie instead!

Mama, at first, wanted to name me either Elizabeth or Julienne. I really am more like an Elizabeth than a Julie. This was a compromise name because daddy said I wasn't a french fry. Mama had vetoed Elizabeth along the way because she was afraid people would think she named me after Elizabeth Taylor who she thought was trashy.

My oldest son had he been a gir would have been Carly.
Son # 2- well let's just say lucky for him he was a boy. The night before he was born, I tossed and turned undecided between Shelley and Stephanie.
Our daughter's adoption took 5 years from the decision to actually holding her in our arms. She had a million names but we settled on an old fashioned French name for her. Besides, I had prayed a gazillion Rosaries and she shares the Blessed Mother's name.

I was almost named Quinn, but Quinn ended up being my middle name. MacKenzie Quinn. :D

My parents were considering naming me Seager after Bob Seager and I would have been McCloud if I'd been a boy.

If i was a boy it would have been Luke, Dsis would have been John. We have DBro Mark and Matthew.

While waiting dd birth- DH said he was going to name the baby if it was a boy. I got to name the baby if it was a girl. Everyday dd and I thank god that she was a girl that we named Isabel bc DH wanted to name the baby Horace!!:eek: It was a family name. All my ds's and I could think of w/ Horace was the guy from 101 dalmations! FF this past April when DMIL passed away and family came. Lo and behold -- we meet DH's cousin Horace! He even has a son Horace Jr. Even this evening while telling DD a story about herself (best bed time stories ever) she mentioned that she was happy she was an Belle and not a Horace!

My parents just assumed I was going to be a boy, so I was named Paul Michael. They even signed Christmas cards "Love Baby Paul". My baby album is blue, and so are a few other baby items. It wasn't until the week before my mother went into labor that they even thought about what if I was a girl. They decided on Stacie because they thought is would be funny to say "Stacie stay still". :sad2: Two years later my brother Paul Michael was born. I make fun of him saying he got my hand me down name. If he was a girl, he would have been Stephanie.

If ended up a boy, I would of been Elliot Francis. My full name is Emily Frances. Frances/Francis has been our family for years.

If I was a boy, I would have been named Patrick Andrew. They tell me they would have called me "Andy." They fully expected a boy and did not have a girl's name picked out! So, I got named "Michelle" after a brother "Michael" who had died before I was born. That has a special meaning to me.

I was going to be named Noelle, but my parents went with Nicole instead. I go by Nicky, though. If I were a boy, my name would have been Brandon.

Everytime my sisters ask my Mom this question, she changes her answer.

But a few things stay consistent. If any of us were a boy, we would have been Stephen or Thomas. The other girl name she liked was Brie (WHAT)

Yes, I was almost named after cheese.

My name is Crystal but I could have been Kevin Lee. My mama got huge and everyone thought I would be a boy-got all blue stuff, lol.

Well, I AM named Ginamarie!

If I were a boy though, I would have been "George", which wound up being my little brother's name.

I was adopted as an infant, so I already had a name..

I was going to name my youngest daughter Crystal, but when she was born she looked more like a "Nicole" - so that's what I named her.. Oddly enough, if she had been a boy, I had chosen Nicholas..:goodvibes

Stephen, if a boy

I was to be Kimberly, but my mom's friend gave birth first and named her Kimberly.

I'm happy with Lisa. ;)
