only for the same number of nights that you stay, as opposed to the number of days, like the tickets. You know? You stay 5 nights, you get a six day ticket, and I was thinking that FD would be for six days also rather than just 5.

I know this was mighty presumptuous of me! lol But did anybody else think that it was this way? Or am I the only stupid, thought Disney might give me a really good deal, person?

:lmao:

Now, please don't flame me! I am thrilled to get FD at all!! Just made a bad assumption. ;)

The free dining or even the dining that you pay for is based upon the nights you stay. I am pretty sure its been that way for quite awhile.

I thought the same thing also. Again, not looking a gift horse in the mouth, and I was making ADRs wherever I wanted to eat, regardless of whether I had enough credits or not -- nothing wrong with paying OOP. :goodvibes Overall it's a wonderful program and I am taking advantage of it again next year!

If you buy the dining plan it is only for the number of nights that you stay.

Yes if you stay 5 nights then you credit 5 CS and 5TS and 5snack credit sfor each peerson traveling in your party.

The dining plans used to be for the length of your stay meaning they started on the day you came in and also included the date you checked out. They had many, many, many complaints and a lot of people used to book a room only on the first night and / or last night because they didn't need the dining if they came in late or left early on check out date. That is when then new plan came into affect (going by number of nights vs days)

I am thrilled to get it for the number of nights I am staying (6). I won't even get to use them all, because we will get there late afternoon the first night; so I doubt we'll use our counter svc or snack that day. Check-out day, we are leaving so early we won't get to use any that we have left.

You could go to the food court and get something to eat for later in the evening on your arrival day. Maybe some nachos to take back to your room? You can also pick up a fruit bowl or something that's a snack credit to use as a quick breakfast in the morning. Even on departure day, you can get drinks and snacks to take with you. We always get some rice krispie treats and pack them in our suitcase as souveniers. There's a lot of stuff in the gift shops that you can get for a snack credit too.

I'm sure you know this but just to clarify for others, you can use the credits in any way on any days of your stay you want. You don't have to use 1 CS, 1 TS and 1 snack credit every day. You get the total at the beginning of your stay and they subtract them as you use them.

If you want to use 4 CS in one day you can. Or wait until the last day to buy all your snacks, you can. In your case, you could use a CS credit for breakfast and another one for lunch on one day and not have any left over.

What a bummer two days of your trip are travel. :sad1: Definitely do your best to use all credits you've got, even if that means bringing home individually wrapped Mickey marshmallow treats in your bags! Last year we had a bunch of snack credits left and that's exactly what we did - stock up for the drive home. Sure we didn't get the most expensive snacks available, but we used them nonetheless!

I thought the same thing the first time we booked the DDP! But I suppose Disney assumes most people burn a day or more traveling. We usually get in around 3:00 PM and don't leave until at least noon on the day we depart. I could get some meals in on those days. :thumbsup2

As a pp stated, you get the credits based on the number of nights you stay and you can use them on any day, in any order. Emphasized by the fact that some table service restaurants are 2 credits. I just also wanted to point out that they don't expire until midnight on the day you check out, so you may use your credits all that day and are good on the day you check in.

I've flipped through all my old information and can find no where that it was ever based on the number of days you stayed. However, I could have tossed something along the way.

As far as the real value/how to get the most out of the dining plan, I highly recommend All Ears article on dining plans cost by the Unofficial Guide editor Len Testa!

I know for us, free dining isn't a great value. We do better to pay for only what we want with a DDE/ToW card.

I had no idea about this! We are on the regular DDP and I was thinking that since we are staying 10 days (Nov, 7-16), that we get 10 TS, CS, etc. I didn't know we get 9. MAN, what would I do without this site???
