"I Want to walk where Walt walked." WDW Nut makes a Pilgrimage-TR Wrap-Up 5/14

LOVE the IASW pictures!! That's one of the things I'm looking forward to the most! And that must have been so cool to walk thru Indy with the lights on!

I am actually real excited to ride IASW. I think the changes they made with adding the characters is great. When I first saw the Adventureland picture I so didn't catch the difference in parks I had to go back and look. Duh.:rotfl:

I haven't been on IASW since they did the update so thanks for showing me how they incorporated the Disney characters. I've heard some people say they didn't like it because the ride isn't "pure" any more, but I think they did a good job and put the characters where they fit.

I thought they had put Mickey, Goofy and Donald in there.

It's funny. When I read WDW trip reports, I don't care about park pictures because I've seen it all. But I'm fascinated with your pictures! It's weird to see IASW with so many different dolls. And to see DL be so different from MK. Oh, and I don't think your pictures look grainy at all...especially considering you didn't use a flash!

I hate it when I'm on a ride and people use flash, so I try my best not to (one time I thought I had it turned off and I didn't...oops!)

I'm glad you're enjoying the pictures :goodvibes

I loved this update!!! What a great idea to have a tradition of taking a picture in front of Adventureland. I need to figure out a place for my family to do something. I am sure it is nice to look back and see how much you have grown over the years :)

I would have been SO scared if I would have gotten stuck with the snakes. I am terrified of snakes. But how cool that you got to walk through the ride :thumbsup2

I LOVE the IASW!!! All of the princesses are ADORABLE and the outside is so impressive! Wish they could do that at WDW.

Your boyfriend's cinnamon roll is making me hungry..looks so good!

My brother gets his picture in front of the Partners Statue. The hardest thing is trying to pick something that they're not going to move or get rid of!

My Dad is terrified of snakes, so I know he would have hated where we stopped!

LOVE the IASW pictures!! That's one of the things I'm looking forward to the most! And that must have been so cool to walk thru Indy with the lights on!

It was really neat! The people who were on the ride with us and knew we hadn't done it before started explaining to us what would happen in each section on the ride!

It's a little funny to say you're looking forward to IASW, so many people dislike it! But I totally understand, it was on my "must do" list!

 There's an actual bridge in WDW, so I was a little sad to see there wasn't a bridge, but the big sign still worked!

I love the way they did the characters. I mean, I know just about every character, so I picked up that they were there. But I was pointing out some of them to my boyfriend who didn't know that they were characters! I think that means they did a good job!

After my photo shoot at Small World was done, we decided to take the train around in a loop starting back at the Fantasyland/Toontown Station.

Disneyland128.jpg

Here, let me take you on a tour...

First, we have a steam bucket:
Disneyland129.jpg

Next, the legendary Matterhorn...I've heard there's a basketball court at the top!
Disneyland130.jpg

Onto our next stop...Main Street Station:
Disneyland132.jpg

Here's looking across to DCA. It shows just how close the two parks really are!!

Onto the New Orleans Square Station:

I thought this was really nicely themed.

Us on the train:

And finally, we've made the round trip circle back to Toontown... I liked this picture a lot, where the conductor is looking over at everyone:
Disneyland138.jpg

We headed into Toontown next...I really loved the theming here. It was seriously like stepping into a cartoon, especially with the color of the sky that day! We wanted to get on Roger Rabbit's CarToon Spin, but it was down...which also meant we couldn't get fastpasses...bummer! So we explored the area a bit.

The Fireworks factory:

Goofy's many flavors of water:

My favorite shot of Toontown:

Chip & Dale's Treehouse (adorable!)

Next thing we knew, it was time for lunch! I had heard great things about Cafe Orleans and made a PS before we left.

Menu:

We started with the Pomme Frites (I had done my research!)
Disneyland148.jpg

They were good, but they weren't hot. It left me a little disappointed.

I got the seafood crepe:
Disneyland150.jpg

...I don't recommend this. The crepe was doughy, the scallops weren't cleaned well, and the sauce was grainy. Bad choice.

My boyfriend got the Monte Cristo:
Disneyland151.jpg

A much better decision. I stole a quarter of it and it was so good. We would have been better off splitting this!

There was no way I was leaving without beignets!! Of course I ordered these beauties:
Disneyland152.jpg

...easily the best part of my meal! I managed to avoid getting any powdered sugar on my black shirt! :woohoo:

All in all, I'd go back to Cafe Orleans again. I'd skip the Pomme Frites and would definitely get the Monte Cristo!!

Your TR is really giving me a lot of great ideas for our DL trip that I am planning for next September. Thanks for posting the pictures of the different foods that you are eating, it will help me decide where we should eat when we go (like a mini food porn, but for DL) :goodvibes...BTW, the Monte Cristo looks amazing, I will have to remember that for when we go :)

Yummy food pictures!! I love Toon Town. I think that it is good and campy.

I love Cafe Orleans, the Pomme Frites can be hit or miss, we usually split the French Onion Soup, a Monte Cristo and the Mickey Beignets. Perfect lunch for two and you're not stuffed afterwards.

Glad you enjoyed it. Loved the other pics as well!

One thing I failed to mention is how much I enjoyed the atmosphere at Cafe Orleans. We were outside overlooking New Orleans Square, Princess Tiana & her band came out, so I was jammin' The biggest thing I can tell you is to definitely split that Monte Cristo. It's way to heavy for just one person!

I love the Mickey shaped beignets! So cute!
They were adorable...and tasty! Especially with the sauces...mmmm :cloud9:

It's very campy. And I eat that stuff up. I loved all the little jokes too!

I really should have listened to people on here and split that Monte Cristo!

Was it Remember Dreams Come True fireworks you saw? IT is most definitely the best fireworks show in a disney park that I've seen. If that was it I'm glad it was that one and not Magical.

I also like the additions of IASM. I thought it was done tastefully.

Loving your TR.

Did you get to see Fantasmic! It blows away WDW's version.

It was the Remember Dreams Come True fireworks. I loved them :lovestruc

Fantasmic! was not showing while we were there...the whole rehab of the Rivers of America and what not. I'm not a huge Fantasmic! fan though, so I wasn't broken up about it.

On a completely unrelated note...I got my new appliances installed today :woohoo:

The DL Toontown looks AWESOME!! Chip and Dale's treehouse...how precious! You are making me want to go to DL (and I never really wanted to before!). Looks very nicely themed and fun!

Your food looked good at Cafe Orleans! Especially your dessert

That flat top stove rocks! I'm sure the other appliances were an upgrade, but the flat top stove is the most obvious. I hope you enjoy. I know I LOVE  mine!

Get out your Epcot F&W cookbook and get to work!

I'm so happy I've found your trip report!

We always go to WDW, but they recently added a direct flight from our hometown to LAX. We decided to hop down to DL in August. I was thinking about staying at HOJO.

Can't wait to see more updates! Thanks!

Hi, just read your whole report. I'm really enjoying it, you take some great photos! Too bad most of your Cafe Orleans meal was just meh. It LOOKED good, so that's what counts to me right now.

Nice new appliances, we just bought a new fridge as our old one kinda died after we had a party and the door got left open all night long. We'll get a nice new flat top stove soon (already had a new dishwasher when we moved in).
