Tell me where this place is:

Awesome water, be it ocean or lake or other.
Green tree's and leafy tree's
No deep deep snow (a little is fine)
No 120 degree summers
Nice people
Good Kids
Good schools
No snots or snobs or jerks
No overly bizarre weather
No large creepy things, like snakes or spiders
Country bliss for my horses
Elbow room
Not stupidly over priced
Good, clean, comfortable, enjoyable and peaceful.

(we work from home, so that doesnt matter... work travels with us where ever we go!)

Am I just dreaming?

Welcome to North Carolina!

All you have to do is narrow it down and figure out if you want to live closer to the mountains or the beach. You'll be within an easy drive of either. Your northern money will go a lot further on a typical mortgage here.

Maybe one of the mid-Atlantic states like MD or VA. There's lots of places that meet your criteria except for the cost and school factor.

::yes:: Unless you can settle for say 60% of your criteria.pirate:

My dream is too move to Guntersville Lake area in Alabama outside of Huntsville.

If there REALLY is a place with NO spiders - that's where I want to go.:)

Us too! Dh works from home and I felt the world is our oyster. We were restricted by dd's special need for a school but otherwise we could go anywhere. We wanted to stay on the East Coast.
After a year of researching we decided on North Carolina. The public school for my younger dd is great. I just came home today from purchasing a house there this week and the weather was in the high 40's, but they had an 1inch of snow a few weeks ago.
I'm getting a new house about 3000 sq.ft for $210,000, taxes $1200, in a great neighborhood.
It had 100% of your requirements (not the ocean but the lakes).
We decided on Winston Salem area it's pretty far inland but I've lived on the water all my life and I'm ready for a change, it's about 3 hours to the ocean, and I didn't want to deal with hurricanes. We are sad to be leaving family but are very excited. Found some great Chinese food also. And everyone we've met is really friendly.
We are in a development but surrounding it were lots of farms and horses.
Downs - lots of people moving down there I'm worried about that effect on taxes and schools.
PM if you have questions.
Not sure about the bug situation.
Good Luck

DH and I enjoy taking it together. It is actually fun. They ask you things you like and things you are looking for in a hometown/city. Then they give you the top 10 cities/town that go with your likes/dislikes.
You can make up a name and email. Skip through the part where they try to get you to subscribe to magazines, things, etc.

Where i live i have all that.. Except

Nice people
Good Kids
Good schools
No snots or snobs or jerks

I don't think a place that that exists aside from WDW ;)

Really tho, people are making me crazy today and I am ready to blow a gasket! Oh Snarky aint the word!

If you find a place as you decribe, tell me cuz I am soooo THERE! :rotfl:

Elf - we are also looking to move out of the NY area and have been talking about Florida and just recently have thrown NC into the mix

Can you share a little more on where in NC you are moving to and how did you end up choosing this area. I am lost on where to start narrowing down an area to start looking into. I know I have to visit the areas just trying to get an idea first of where to go look

I lived in Virginia when I was a kid and the snakes scared the crap out of all of us Californians! Well, Im not a Californian anymore (except at heart and apparantly my hair style, or lack there of.) BUt I still think I'd be terrified of those water moccasins!
Ahhh... but fond memories of friends and the lake on our property.

I'm homescik for a home I havent been to yet. Is that sick, or what? :confused3

I have just had it with snobby, rude, fake, impersonal, fast, money, money, money and all the crap that goes along with it. I could scream!

Try Northwest WA state, about 60 miles north of Seattle, it has just about everything on your list!!

East TN comes awfully close to all you want. We do have snakes but it is rare that I see them. DD loves snakes so if she finds one, she brings it home so I can see it. There are snobs everywhere, I think. The west part of my town is full of them, LOL. Honestly, you just have to ignore them and look for more genuine people. I'm a snob snob, LOL.

Large portions of KY fit your criteria. I love the Lexington area as the amenities of a large city are here, but go 15 miles in any direction and you are in the country. If you want to visit the larger cities, Louisville and Cincinnati are only an hour away.

Your horse would have alot of company here too.

That was a LOT of fun! :goodvibes According to that, any number of towns in Vermont would be ideal locations for me. And I have to say, I kind of agree with it! Vermont seems lovely.
