I think I want to buy a hopper with no expiration with the extra fun passes for blizzard beach and Disney Quest. If I happen to decide I won't be able to use the rest of the days. What can I do with them? Can I give them to my brother or parents to use? Does the finger scan really stay with the card?

You can use it for any future trips for yourself but you can not give it to anyone else to use. Yes the finger scan stays with the ticket. Tickets are non-transferable. If you aren't wanting to use the ticket for a future trip, why pay the extra for the no expiration? It is very expensive to add to a ticket. We checked on adding it to some 10 day tickets we already had and it was over $300 per ticket. We were able to buy a 5 day base ticket cheaper than adding no expiration to those 10 day tickets. We just decided to save those tickets for a time when we could stay for 2 weeks.

Once used. Unused tickets are transferable, that is why I can buy 3 tickets for my family and give one to my wife and one to my son.

Yes that is true but the OP was asking about using the ticket and then giving the unused days to a family member to use.

Just to re-emphasize, the no expiration option has become very expensive and almost never worth the cost except in very specific circumstances.

We always used to get 10-Day NE with Park Hopper (through UT - saves a few bucks).

We use the no exp if we plan on going to WDW for 2-3 days per visit, but would book a package if going for any longer than that.

Tix are more expensive for the first few days, and the additional days on a multi-day tix become less and less.
Park Hopper - same cost whether a one day tix or two day or ten day.

With tix prices going up every year...it can be a cost savings if you tend to take short trips. OR, you can purchase MYW tix before prices increase and just hold onto them.

Right now UT offers 5-day PH for $358 and 10-Day PH, NE for $754. If you take 2 5-day with PH trips, it saves you about $40 to get a 10-day NE.

Only you know how often and for how many days you would go to WDW and which scenario works out best for YOU.

All tickets become non-transferable once they are used.

The issue is that we usually go 1-2x per year. So, I think the no expiration works for us. I just finished a 10 day pass that we had for about 6 -7 years. So, I think it works better for us. Please correct me if I am wrong or if you think there is a better way. The other issue is the fun passes. I usually add those, but I thought I might be able to sell the unused portion to fund more theme park tickets or simply give them to family. But it does not sound like that will work, correct?

NE tickets are a good value if they cover at least 3 complete trips.

You cannot sell or give away any entitlements on your ticket.

We use our NE tickets if we are going to the parks 3 days or less. If not, we buy new tickets for the trip.

The great thing about the NE tickets is for somewhere around $50 (I think it's much less with PH), you can add 10 waterpark visits. Basically, you get 10 waterparks for the price of one day. Even if we buy separate tickets for the trip, we don't add the WP&M option, we just use a day from our NE tickets.

Maybe I am just not getting the intent, but why would you spend the extra money and buy something when you dont know what to do with them? Would it be more prudent for your to purchase only what you need? I am a practical purchaser, so that is why I am asking. ;)

We used to do the 10 day never expires. It was a great deal, as you lock in the ticket price then and makes it easy to spread over trips. We used to do Disney and US/IOA on the same trips, so it made perfect sense. But the price of never expires kept going up. So we changed our touring style to doing either Disney or US/IOA to handle the increase in prices. Last time I checked, it was like getting the 10th day free but paying for the first 9 for the way we did the parks. However, that doesn't factor if you use it over a period of years or when ticket prices increase.

We've switched to Y.E.S. tickets too, so the never expires 10 day option is definitely more expensive for us. But if we were to spread out a 10 day over at least 3 trips and not do Y.E.S. tickets, then yes, it would be worth it, even with the increase in never expires price that has happened.

This! Done the math many times and it's almost never worth it unless you're using the ticket over at least 3 complete trips (since if you use it over 3 trips but need to buy extra days on that third trip is makes it not worth it again). Only exception sometimes is that if you use the park admissions over two trips and want to spread the water park admissions out over multiple trips. We still have water park admissions from 7-8 year old tickets left . . .

Yes, this will be our scenario. We will be using the 10 days over at least 6 trips. So, basically 6-7 years. I have added the water parks and disney quest passes and I still have some of those left over from my last 10 day hopper and I thought I might be able to give those away. But, it sounds like I am married to all of them.
This only applies to adult tickets correct? They don't biometric scan child passes, correct?

We bought NE tickets a few years ago with 10 park days and 10 WP&M. We used 3 park days the first visit, 4 the next and 3 the next. Haven't even touched the WP&M parts yet, but since they don't expire they will be good till we need them. We have DVCPAPs right now so we don't need them. When we get regular tickets we can use them. We got same for our son and he only used 3 park days and no WP&M, so he still has 7 park days & 10 WP&M when he is ready to go again. These were bought when he was 21 and he is now 27. I figure he will probably go on his honeymoon. Just don't know when the wedding will be yet. But the tickets will still be there for him.

This applies to adult and child tickets - they scan both. Of course the child's finger is going to get bigger over the years so I don't know how that affects anything!

We love the no expiration tickets. get a minimum of 3 trips ut of them and then have loads of extra's. We will be using out last park days this trip and will still have water parks and more left to use. So next trip might just be low key using th left overs and trying Sea World or something else we haven't ever done.

This is not 100% true. I'm not sure about water parks but for theme park entrance, the child's finger isn't scanned. My DS is 8 and has been every year since he was 1. His finger has never been scanned.

We always purchased the 10 day NE tickets and used them over multiple trips because they were cheaper per day and we knew were going to use them at some point.

When I did the math this year, it was cheaper per day to just purchase the 5 day hopper than the 10 day NE hopper.

I had to go to guest relations on our trip and swap out old paper tickets (that had water park days left on them) for the new tickets. (Poor lady....bet I had 20 of them!) She said they are phasing the NE tickets out and at some point they won't even be available.

Guess Disney figured out people were locking in at the lower "per day" price and this is a way to make a few extra bucks on people. I hate this!

You can't give them to someone else, and after 14 days from first use you can't upgrade them.
