"I want my soup!" An October 2010 Trip Report UPDATED 7/9 2012 PTR STARTED!

Good thing you walked!

 I love that they grabbed a beer! And I love that the CM was slightly disapproving.

And oh my goodness, the leopard print Mickey ear headbands are WAY TOO CUTE. I've never seen them before!! Adorable!

Great Safari pictures! Those lions are lazy! They're all I ever want to see but they're always too busy sleeping.

Thank goodness the CM found the KTTW card! Glad your sister perked up after Dinosaur.

Nice picture of you and Kris! That one needs framed!

What a bummer EE got stuck at that point! :( But hey, at least you got to dry off!

Can't wait to hear about the birthday celebrations!

PS. So, did Kris use sunscreen or did he fry? Hope you had an aloe-free trip for his sake!

How come when you go on KS you NEVER see the lions? Has anyone ever seen one of them standing up? I always see their ears, if that. Lazy animals.
i have seen someons pics of the lion p@@ping.

Up next, dinner at Ohana and Jellyrolls!
actually i think you get bellyrolls after you eat to many potstickers at ohanas, not jellyrolls.

but maybe they will jiggle like jello.

i can say i have added about 3 pounds after an ohana meal before

I totally luv your trip report...especially since i'm a fellow New Jersian.
My bday was 10/04 so i was like "OMG you went on my bday! :)

Happy Belated Birthday!

Thanks! Happy belated birthday to you as well. :) Where in NJ are you from?

Love you AK pics! You got great shots on the safari! And yes, I did get a pic of the mail lion standing up (and roaring!) on one of our trips. I'll go back through my old TRs and see if I can find it for it. It was really cool...you could feel the tremor from his roaring in your stomach!

ETA:
Here's the link...it's the first pic on the page. It was when we went in December 2006.
http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=19635201&postcount=17

I'm glad the pictures turned out so well. They say to put it on a sports setting but my camera has no such thing. It's called 'children' on mine. It worked well enough!

That's a great picture of the lion! Not only did you see it up and about but roaring too?? He must've worn himself out that day.

They have the headbands in pink too. I got the regular colors cause it matched my outfit. :rotfl:

I freaked a little when I realized I didn't have her KTTW card but the CMs are so good, I knew they'd find it. At least I remembered when I last had it and we didn't have to go to lost and found or anything.

Kris didn't use sunscreen. He got burnt on the back of his neck. You can see the tan line, it's pretty bad lol. Other than that, he was fine. My sister got burnt. I think I got a little color but I was so tan from so may trips to the beach this summer I can't even tell. :confused3

 I don't think I'd want a picture of that!

I was sooo stuffed after Ohana. The potstickers, wings, and noodles are so good. I can't believe they give you all that stuff BEFORE the rest of the food comes out. That is a meal in itself.

i know those appetizers are a meal in themselves.

but ohhhhhh sooooo gooooddddd.

Hey Jenny!
I'm along for the journey! Love you AK pics! Would've been awesome if Kris had some ears on, too! hehe!
Can't wait to read more!

Hi Amanda! How is Emma? How is mommyhood treating you? :)

I think I have some pictures with Kris and ears. You'll have to wait a little bit. ;)

I left off with us leaving AK and heading back to the hotel. I forgot to mention that while we were trying to leave, the parade was about to start so everything was roped off. We had to cut through stores to get back to the entrance. That has got to be one of the most poorly planned parade routes in WDW. I always seem to get stuck fighting my way through it when I want to leave AK. I need to plan that out better!

Anyway, we got back to Pop and Kris & I immediately changed into our swimsuits and went over to the Hippy Dippy Pool. Everybody else went for a ride to find a convenience store and bank. My friend Annemarie was down in Florida visiting family and friends and got a room at Pop Century for the night so she could come out with us for my birthday. We met her by the pool. Kris and I went to Everything Pop to use a snack credit. We hadn't eaten anything since Restaurantsaurus and we were hungry! I think he got a giant chocolate chip cookie and I got a fruit cup. We also made a stop at Petals Pool Bar. I think he and Annemarie got some frozen drink that tasted like an orange creamsicle and I got a fruity, on the rocks drink. We hung out til about 6-6:30 and went back to the room to get ready. It turned out that Annemarie was staying right down the hall from us!

Our ADR at Ohana was for 8:05 and we left Pop around 7:30 to drive over to the Poly. We got there just in time! We were seated in about 5-10 minutes. I was so happy because I got one of these. YUM!

SAM_0120.jpg

Adam got one too.

We took a couple pictures to pass the time waiting for our food.

Pose Off 2010, who wins?

Can I just tell you how much I love Ohana? We had a table right by the chefs station so we saw all of the food being prepared. We were also able to see some of Wishes (they pipe in the music!) and the Electrical Water Pageant. The food at Ohana is delicious! The only thing I really didn't care for was the grilled chicken because it really didn't taste like anything. Everything else I tried, I loved. They could make a meal out of the appetizers alone. There were only 6 of us but they gave us double of everything! Wings, pot stickers, noodles, even dessert! They also gave me a cupcake with a candle in it and one of the CMs sung happy birthday to me in Hawaiin. Ohana is the best! :goodvibes He also had me take a picture with him where he was holding plates to my head to make it look like I had Mickey ears. That picture is on Annemarie & Kim's cameras though and they haven't uploaded their pictures yet! :sad2:

After dinner, we headed over to Jellyrolls in the Boardwalk area. I'd never been here and was really looking forward to it. My friends Katie and Dave were also going to meet up with us there. Before we went inside, we did a lap around the Boardwalk area to settle all of that food!

For those of you who are unfamilar with Jellyrolls, it is a dueling piano bar. They really get the crowd into it, everyone is singing and dancing, and you can also make requests. The entertainment is continuous; they switch piano players every 45 minutes or so. It's a good time! CityWalk has a place like it, Pat O'Brien's that I have been to before and love, so I knew I'd like Jellyrolls. It was packed when we got there but we were lucky to find seats near the bar after a half hour or so.

Me, Annemarie, and our 32oz Hurricanes!

A little dark, but these are the piano players.

Me, Annemarie, and Katie. We've been friends since high school. Thanks to Alex and Adam for the bunny ears.

Group shot of everyone sans Alex cause he was getting a drink. That's Katie's boyfriend Dave on the far left.

I forgot to mention that there is an old fashioned popcorn cart at Jellyrolls that you can help yourself too. Alex loved this. He got about 5 baskets throughout the course of the night. We all helped him eat it. That's the best popcorn ever, lemme tell ya! I think Alex even tried to walk out with a basket but the security guy stopped him. He said he could take the popcorn but the basket stays here. So Alex took out the wax paper with the popcorn and left the basket. :lmao:

The famous popcorn

We found the lei in the Poly, by the way.

Me & my guy

At this point of the night, we were wondering why these guys had not played any of our requests. You write down your request on a napkin, include $5 minimum, and leave it on top of one of the pianos. We had requested Frank Sinatra, U2, and NKOTB. We were tipping these guys so we wanted to hear our songs! It wasn't like we were being picky, we literally wrote down 'anything' by these artists. They'd already played two Bon Jovi songs! C'mon! That was my sister's attitude during this picture. The place had cleared out a lot by then since it was getting late.

67693_437432032943_620842943_5320171_5742365_n.jpg

Finally, they played New York, New York! Kim and Annemarie joined the chorus kick line up on stage.

71635_437432157943_620842943_5320177_6738958_n.jpg

Then they finally, FINALLY played some U2. Where the Streets Have No Name to be exact. U2 is my sister's favorite band and one of my favorites as well so we were really excited. I'm almost embarrassed to show you these lol.

After U2 they played....The Right Stuff by NKOTB! WOOHOO!!! Me, Katie, Kim, and Annemarie were all out on the dance floor but I don't think anybody got a picture of it! :guilty: After that, we left and headed back to Pop to get some much needed rest.

That brings Day 2 to a close. It had been a great day and an amazing & fun birthday! I was sad my birthday was over but excited for the rest of the trip. Tomorrow was Epcot Day! Stay tuned...

Wow, you're just breezing right through this TR!! Seems like you had an AMAZING birthday! Jellyrolls looks like a lot of fun!

I'm trying to post as much as I can this week because I will be back in Florida most of next week, for work this time. The TR will be on hiatus then :) Plus, I'm trying to get the details down while they're still fresh in my mind!

Jellyrolls is awesome, you should try and check it out next trip!

omg you guys look like you had so much fun!!! I never knew that Jellyrolls was a dueling piano bar. We have one in Baltimore called "Howl at the Moon", and that one is awesome. The picture of you with your pineapple is too cute. The pictures and story from O'hana make me miss poly sooooooooo much. I honestly think that was my first resort when I was an infant lol and I've stayed there a few more times throughout the years. I wish it wasn't so expensive because I would loveee to go back.

Maybe i'll make reservations for dinner there on our next trip..that should help my fix a little lol

We had a blast at Jellyrolls, everyone loved it there. I've never stayed at the Poly. I would love to sometime when I can afford it! You should definitely make an ADR for Ohana next trip. It's all you can eat, they practically keep the food coming non-stop, plus they have limbo contests and coconut races to keep the kids entertained! I'm not planning to go back until 2012 and Kris already asked if we could go to Ohana again. :)

Hey, Jenny! I knew if I looked you would have a trip report started! Great so far!

Love the pic in the Jack Sparrow hat... Brian bought that hat a couple of years ago on our Halloween trip. He loves it! :rotfl:

And a big WOOOOOO!!!!! for NKOTB at Jellyrolls! :goodvibes

Hi Heather! Thanks!

I think I will buy the Jack Sparrow hat next trip. I always end up trying one on. Maybe I can get Kris to buy it.

I couldn't believe they played NKOTB! I guess there was only one guy who knew the words and they brought him out just for that one song and then he went back on his break. He rocked it!

Ok I'm replying from my cell phone so I'm sorry if I miss words or have typos!

First...back to that lion. That pic was from 2006 and that's the only time I ever caught him standing. He's been sleeping it off for 4 years now. Maybe I'll catch him again next week.

Ohana and Jellyrolls look awesome! We originally planned to stop by Jellyrolls one night but without a car it will be too much back and forth. I'm glad they finally played your requests...too bad it was when you guys were the only people left! Sounds like you had a great birthday though!

That was a long nap! Hope you luck out and catch another glimpse of the lion.

My friends Katie and Dave didn't have a car. They saw a bus at the Boardwalk stop and I think they commandeered it to Pop. Either that or it took them to DTD and they had to take a bus back. In places that have bars/restaurants open late hours, I wish they would just run the buses from resort to resort. It'd be so much easier.

Before I start the post, a correction to make. The U2 song they played at Jellyrolls was 'I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For.' I realized this when it came on the radio on the ride home from work today.

Anyway, we slept in a little later than usual the next morning. I think we woke up around 10. Adam wanted to take a walk around the resort to take pictures so he went off with Kim to do that before we headed over to Epcot. We weren't quite ready yet so I told them I'd meet them in the lobby. Once we were ready, I decided I wanted to take a little walk around Pop to show Kris the rest of the resort so that's just what we did. And we took Alex with us. Before I start my photo tour of Pop Century, here is a picture of Kris with my ears on. :thumbsup2 Told ya I had one!

The renovations they were doing on the first floor. It looked like they were putting the bedframes in that week cause we saw a lot of mattresses outside of the rooms.

We met up in the lobby and caught the Epcot bus just before noon. What would be our first ride of the day? What countries would we see? Stay tuned to find out...

OH my gosh!! I'm so sorry!! I hadn't even known you started yet!!!! But I'm all caught up now thanks to your fabulous chapter links!! :goodvibes

Let me start off by saying you're really pretty and I love your eyes. haha. I was thinking that in all your pics.

Your days look so great. How are you already starting day 3? You better not pass me up!!

We HAVE to go to Jelly Rolls on our "Boy Bands Never Even Went Out of Style...You Went Out of Style, Hater!" trip. I'm just dying to go there. (Watch them go on tour and be in Orlando like 2 weeks before my 21st birthday...I'd be livid!! Haha.)

Oh and I must say...reading your tr was literally magical. I felt like I was actually there because I could literally SMELL popcorn as I was reading. And then I noticed my dad made some. :rotfl:
