I want a Kindle now

My brother-in-law just got me an amazon kindle for my birthday. I LOVE IT.
It made time pass by so quickly on my flight home.

I'm considering taking the plunge but can't decide if I should get a Kindle or get a Sony eReader. I just don't understand how they work or the differences. For example you all stated that the Kindle comes with AT&T wi fi. Do I need to have an AT&T account to use it? I have Verizon so I don't get how it works connecting without having to pay somehow.

I don't want to spend a fortune, but I do like to take a lot of books when I travel and I just can't carry these giant tomes anymore. So I'm looking for one.

What should I do?

I've been looking at them but I've decided that if I get a reader it will be a Sony. I've never liked the prepriortory nature of the kindle in the first place but once my library made ebooks available for free (they are Sony compatable as are most library ebook editions) I fell on the Sony side of the street. I've even started looking at the IPad as compared to the Sony readers, but since I refuse to buy any 1st gen item from Apple, I figure I'll have to wait a while longer to decide which one I'll get.

OP here......2 days ago my instant gratification gene won out again. I bought the 3G at Target and I LOVE IT!!!!!!

I cancelled my home delivery newspaper and subscribe to it via kindle

I haven't had time to "play" on it yet, just reading my book and the paper but I can tell that I will go no where without my Kindle

Its been to the pool with me, the cover I bought has a "stander upper thingy" , like a picture frame, so I just put that on the lounge chair at the pool and its great.

The kindle has been with me to my son's football practice. I so angry that I didn't buy this sooner
