By all means, go to nursing school. Yes, it's hard work. But the one patient you take care of that always remembers your name, gives you a smile and says 'thank you" no matter how little the thing you do for him/her, makes it all worth it. Plus, we need good people in this profession.Meezers said:Oh dear....and I have just found a REALLY good part time BSN nursing program that I want to start in January 2008. And I am 44 years old! I would have done this 16 years ago but was stupid enough to get married (another long story!).
Please tell me I am going to be okay....
PS....I already work shift work....9-1-1 operator....just got subpoened for a murder case...a call I took 2 years ago that I don't even remember....and the worst part....I never knew the woman died....
And for all those who look to the hospital for overweight people, (I am not one of them) just take a look around you the next time you go to an amusement park at the teens and even the little kids. They have no stress. Their only excuse is the poor diet their parents (me included at times) expose them to because we are all in such a hurry these days to get on to the next thing we have to do that a fast, frozen dinner or (Heaven forbid) fast food dinner is easier than taking time to fix a healthy meal.
This year (for nurses day) a local mega-resturant gave us a nice dinner, prizes and open bar in thanks for all we do.
This is a photo from that night. It felt so very very good to be recognized.
