We, my almost 6yo daughter and I, arrived in Orlando at 7:45 p.m. on Thursday May 5th. We had received out ME package just the day before. I only had one suitcase that I tagged and checked in Providence. We took pj's and toothbrushes in our carry-on. We saw several ME CMs with the big, white Mickey hands. We were directed to go to the Welcome Center which was a long counter right next to the car rental counters. The line was not too long and moved pretty quickly. We were taken care of in a few minutes. The CM who assisted us double checked names, dates and hotel information; as well as asked if we had tagged luggage. He also told us he would call ahead to the hotel to inform them we would be arriving and that our bag was probably in their sorting room based on how long ago we had landed. We were then sent to a line to wait for our bus. The lines were separated by retractable line dividers and by hotels. We were on a bus in about 15 minutes and left about 10 minutes after that. Luckily our hotel, OKW, was the first stop. We checked in very easily and quickly. I asked about the bags and were told they were several hours behind in delivery but I could call later to have it held if it got too late. We were in our room by 9:30. I called at 10:30 and asked for the bag to be held. When I woke up the next morning around 6:00 I called to ask for the bag to be delivered and I had it within a few minutes. I was told an envelope would be delivered with departure information the day before we left. On Sunday, the day before departure, I hadn't received any departure information by mid afternoon so I called ME and was on hold for about 15 minutes. I spoke with a CM who confirmed my reservation, gave me a pick up time and a confirmation number. We were leaving Monday at 2:00 so I was given 11:00 as a pick up time. On Monday morning I saw ME buses come in and out of the resprt very often. We were picked up right on time, made one more stop at SSR and arrived at the airport by 11:45. We were flying SW so we had to take our own luggage which was very easily done. We were through ticketing and security and eating lunch by noon. All in all the service worked great and I would not hesitate to use it again. My husband and son have reservations for the end of June. Any questions?

To me it sounds like once they get the luggage issues resolved this service is going to work great.

Maybe Disney just didn't realize that some folks bring thier life possesions to Disney LOL! (I am not speaking of you, but I have seen people arrive at Disney with so much luggage I wonder if they are moving to the hotel for the next year LOL!)

Glad to hear that your experience on the official launch day was not too bad. I agree with CarolA - once the luggage system is down, this will be a great service.

Hope you meant "down pat". If it's down we'll all be drowning in a huge pile of <censored> ... I mean suitcases.

Couldn't resist.

Next trip: mid-May 2005. Staying off site so can't use ME. Usually I go in the fall during value season and stay on-site, but my annual pass is expiring this summer and I want to see the 50'th celebration.

I have had only one concern about ME -- if it failed to transport the guest. Regrettably I have read about two examples of that on this forum, although maybe one was not a real failure since a resort manager pulled money out of the till to taxi the guest back to the airport..

Disney has several luggage issues to stay on top of. When guests arrive early, before their rooms are ready, is it better to keep the luggage in the airport or send it to the resort? If the guests luggage gets separated at what point should they deliver 2 of your 3 suitcases vs waiting for the unidentified suitcases to get matched up? How many extra employees does it require to deliver the luggage? I'm sure the value resort had almost no bellhops on staff. How late at night should they deliver luggage? I think the present policy is to stop at 11:00p but some guests may already be sleeping.
