For over a month, there has been a paper plate half-hidden under old newspapers with about 15-25 pennies on it. I think the custodians found them throughout the building while cleaning and just piled them there. Well, no one was taking them because no one can "use" pennies. So I decided, they would not be wasted in my coffee can change jar at home! So I "swiped" them and they added to our food and rental car fund! :rotfl: Oh, what one will not do to "save" for WDW!!!!

you sound like me!!
Last year before our trip to WDW, I took a large jar full of pennies to Coinstar, dumped them in and got $30 back!!
Keep saving those pennies ~ they do add up!

I pick up pennies-even if they're not heads up-off the ground for our change jar! :rotfl: My husband is constantly complaining because I swipe all the spare change, THEN I'm constantly asking him to hand over lunch money for the girls (they only buy once in a while and I rarely have cash on me-I'm a check writing gal :flower: )! :rotfl2:

I have a 150 oz plastic tide bottle that only has about 2 more inches to go and its full, so every pennie will add up after a while.

I pick them up anywhere I see them. One day I hit a bonanza in the parking lot at work, I did not count it but there were several pennies and some silver. Picked it up quick, then wondered "Is this a set up and am I on a hidden camera TV show?" There was that much change there, it made me wonder. :rotfl:

A girl that once worked with me threw away pennies (in the garbage!) because they weren't worth anything. I said, "Oh, give them to me, my daughter ;) saves them" Well - you know they ended up in the Disney jar. :earsboy:

I know at a bank I used to work at they used to leave change out just to see how honest our custodial workers were. I know they were setting them up, but one lady took the money and she got fired..BE CAREFUL!!!! I thought it was wrong but they felt that if they were going to have people working in bank they needed to be honest. I can see both sides but I still felt bad for her. :sad1:

I shouldn't tell you all this story or you might avoid your future riches. For entertainment, DH, the kids, and I put a penny in a public spot (like a busy sidewalk), sit back and watch the action. We try to guess who will pick it up. This started on a vacation in DC while we were resting our feet. It is good, cheap fun! (I pick up pennies when I see them anyway.)

There is a guy that works with my husband who will pick pennies up off the shop floor.....several times they have glued the pennies down and had a few laughs watching this guy try to pick the penny up :rotfl2: :rotfl:

You sound EXACTLY like me!!! (Only I use a rewards CC for everything rather than the checks - but I USED to write checks for everything BEFORE they had debit cards. )

My neighbor had three pennies in his driveway by the car for two months! We had tons of snow and when it melted they were still there but in a different spot, he even shoveled! I would look to see if he picked them up because I walk the dog every dog past his house. My daughter wanted to pick them up, but I told her no, because they were on his property.

We always pick up change, too! In fact, my 13yo ds and I frequently battle over it, LOL!

I came across an interesting blog the other day ... the author documents all the change he finds and where he finds it. Since '98, he's found well over $500! ;) http://www.changequest.blogspot.com/

:rotfl: Dh and I always pick up any change we see, even if it's a penny. :rotfl: Pennies add up! I love taking my change jar (Mickey Mouse Coffee Can) to the bank and adding to our WDW vacation fund. :earsgirl:

I pick up loose change off the ground when I see it....even a penny and I'll go for a glued down penny as long as I have time to fight for it. :goodvibes

DH brought a very large pickle jar filled with loose change to the bank today but they don't count it there, it has to be sent out and will be deposited into our account. I am curious to see how much it will add up to.:sunny:

And posted above, a person throws pennies away in the garbage?
I would guess that she lives at home with her parents, doesn't pay rent or any living expenses and will be broke someday when she is finally out on her own.
Those pennies will have value then. ;)

Do not leave change unattended around my 5 year old, she'll take it! She asked when we can go to WDW again and I told her when she filled her piggy back up. I thought it would take a year or two, but now I'm getting nervous, that pig is getting pretty heavy :rotfl:

$105.59 woohoo!

Just be careful with those glass containers saving change. They will break on the bottom of the jar if they get too heavy! Had that happen and now use a plastic container.
