but in pricing out I see Pop is now a bit more than the All-Stars. Does anyone know when this changed and why?

Thanks,
Amy

I believe it just changed for 2012. I remember the prices coming out sometime in the 2nd half of last year. My guess is that the all stars aren't as popular so they are trying to get some more folks over there by making them cheaper than POP and then AOA is even more than that probably because it's new.

Thinking back on it now I think the price difference may have been in affect last fall and winter too.

I believe the answer is that Pop is in a different county from All Stars and is subject to a different tax rate.

Then is should be the opposite then. The All Stars are in the same county as AKL and their tax rate is like .5% more--12.5% compared to 12%.:confused3 (Osceola county vs Orange county) I think MuchLovedMama got it right when she said they went up on Pop last fall (just like a standard room at CSR costs a little more than a standard room at any of the other three moderates). They decided since CSR is a convention resort and offers a few more amenities that they could charge a few bucks more to stay there. Used to all the standard rooms at a moderate were the same price, but CSR has been just a tad higher for the last couple of years.

when pricing for this upcoming trip, POP was actually cheaper than the All Stars. if you do a search for next week, it comes to about $50 less for 4 nts. than it does for the AS

I have seen this before. I think it might depend on the time of year you are looking at. I have booked at ASMu and then searched ASMo and found same exact package at a lower cost. The same with all the other Values, except AoA. When we were looking at which Value we wanted to stay at this summer, Music was around $50 cheaper than Pop and about $30 higher than Movies. I'm definitely no marketing expert, but I do think that MuchLovedMama probably is on the right track with her post. :)

You have to be sure you are comparing the same room type. ASSp is only showing preferred rooms for next week. If you look at at preferred room at POP it's about $23 more. You can get a standard room at POP for next week making it cheaper. If ASSp had a standard room available they'd be the cheaper option.

It started in January 2012. Standard rooms at Pop are $5 more per night than All-Stars. Art of Animation Standard rooms are $5 more than Pop.

It used to be that All-Stars were slightly more than Pop because of the tax rate but the nightly room rate was the same.

Humm not sure that bodes well for us - we're checking into Sports on Saturday...hope it won't be crowded!
