I don't know what I can do about this if anything. We had reservations to stay in AKL concierge for 2 nights in August This cost us 100pts. Because of the construction, we were told that we couldn't stay there. We switched to the Poly lagoon view whichis 92 points. I was told that the 8 points would be put back into my account. I went on line and saw that they were put back into my 2007 account as vacation points but not as being able to be borrowed or banked.I knew that since we booked the Disney collection the 8 points are now considered reservation points and can not be used for DVC. Now from reading I understand that you can only use them from the use year from which they were taken. We are planning on going next August with another couple but my use year is August and those points will expire before we are going. Does anyone have any ideas? I feel like this was not our fault and I don't want to lose those points.

Boy do I feel stupid! The points used to make the AKL reservation were from 2006. They were already banked. I am allowed to use them at DVC, however. We are trying to add on a night for a November trip and I am able to use the points for that.:)

I agree that, if the change was enforced on you, you should not lose out on points. It may be that, because of the rules on using points for Disney Collection (rather than DVC resorts), it was an automatic thing. Have you tried contacting MS and asking why the points have remained at 'reservation status'?

I am going to do that as soon as MS opens. I wasn't sure if I had a valid argument. Thanks for the feedback!

If DVC or Disney encouraged/recommended the change from AKL, I would defiately call Member Services and speak with a supervisor. Since in that case, the change was basically not your choice and beyond your control, you should not be penalized.

If, on the other hand, it was you that initiated the change (I don't get that impression from your post) then the current status of your points is fair, IMO.

No we did not initiate the change. We are very disappointed about AKL. Hopefully, we will be able to stay there in the future with the 7-month window.

Sorry to hear about the cancellation at AKL...and concierge no less!

I agree completely that since this is something you did not initiate then you should not be penalized. If you don't get a good response when you call MS, ask for a supervisor. This definitely should not be recorded as your "once-in-a-lifetime" override of the rules!

I wonder if they are calling those 8 points reservation points because they are incorrectly calling ALL AKV points reservation points. If one looks at the member's website, all AKV points are being called reservation points for some reason.

Perhaps I am not understanding. Did you book your original reservation through the Disney Collection?

We booked this resevation with the Disney collection before we knew that AKV was going to have concierge as a choice. We thought that this would be our last chance to stay at AKL concierge (which it may be depending on availability at the 7 month window.)

THat is the PROBLEM. In this case they were reservation points. (I think folks thought you got thrown out of VAK concerige) I would still try to get MS to change your points as I agree with others, it's not YOUR fault!!!

Or ask that they keep the 8 points and put you in Poly concierge. Disney initiated the change and should give you equivalent accomodations at the same price, even if they need to upgrade you in order to do so.

Best of luck -- Suzanne

I agree with many of the posters. If Disney initiated the move you should at least be given Poly concierge and if not not penalization of points .

I just had a great experience with MS about point changing , hopefully things will work out for you too.

PLEASE let us know what happens with all of this , Good Luck !

I'm glad everything seems to be working out as it should, since the change was done at the request of Disney, and not by you. :)
