working at the airport I mean...boy was I wrong..

I work at MCO. I work in an office in a small building under the tram. The company I work for does maintence on the bag room stuff and the bridges everyone uses to board the planes.

Because of my work location, I must go through security...DAILY! Sometimes 2x a day depending on if I go somewhere. That is enough to drive anyone crazy. I basically come to work in the basics. The less I have to take off for security the better.

This also means I deal with the traveling public...ALL the time..I am under the impression that when people land at MCO, their mind is wiped, and all common sense goes away until they reboard the plane back home..LOL..

My biggest pet peeve is the trams to the airsides(where you board the plane). There are 2 trams. They run CONSTANT. The longest wait for a tram..2 min or so...but people INSIST on jumping in the doors as they are closing...with the 50 other people already CRAMMED into the tram...causing a delay as the doors attempt to reset...and these doors are NOT like elevator doors...they WILL close on you, your luggage, or the 3yo you are dragging behind you in your rush to get there 2min sooner.

Sorry, I am just venting...Rough morning..its 6:20a, and I have already been hit by a wheelchair, smacked with a giant rolling suitcase, crammed into a tram, and cut off by people not paying attention at least 4x...Thank goodness for my nice semi peaceful office..LOL..

And to think that's always been my favorite airport (particularly at Christmas)!

I work at DTW and I soo feel your pain.
I get told off daily for stuff that I can not control, as in the
weather. REALLY ?!?! If I could control the weather, do you
think I would work here and put up with this ??!!
I listen to crews whine more than 2 yr olds some times
I want to tell them to ALL SHUT UP!!!!

I hope your day gets better...the only that keeps me
from breaking down is my 3x a yr trip to my happy place

Actually yes, Harry the cat was found..after being lost for 3 weeks..One of the guys in my office found him in our parts room..the guy that found him got pretty scratched up catching him, but we did find him..

A million years ago, I worked at BNA. Parts of the job were really fun as were the flight privelidges (when you were able to take advantage of them and were lucky enough not to be bumped). However, there were lots of things about that job that was horrible (pay, hours, poorly trained management, etc).

My DH and I think this every time we go on vacation. While on vacation we notice many people forget their common sense and manors. I hate line cheaters and rude people while we are at WDW. Drives me crazy when people stop walking in the middle of the sidewalk...move over to the side then get what you need out of your bag...there is LOTS of others behind you! That said....I'm sure someone has complained about me before due to something I've done on vacation...yup I'm one of those last minute tram jumpers!

I find that MCO has one of the toughest security lines EVER. Fortunately, I take early flights so I've never been too inconvenienced but, geez, you'd think Orlando was the Pentagon or something.

I often fly out of BWI, Dulles, and Reagan National and their security doesn't seem to be as tough as MCO.

As for the tram, the very first time I went to MCO, I thought it was going to be like WDW and the monorail: that if I missed it I might have to wait 10 minutes (Dulles' shuttles used to be like that). But after that first trip, I realized they ran automated/continuous and it was no big deal if you missed one.
