I thought it was tasteless to show Nancy leaning over the coffin!

The only coverage I watched was C-Span....they had no commentary whatsoever...at least at the times I watched.

Much better than listening to the endless drivel of the other stations IMO.

At the end of the funeral, when Nancy said her final goodbye, I thought it was very tasteless to show her leaning over the coffin. The TV stations should have broken away and let her and the "children" have their private time without millions of people watching. Then to make matters worse, you could hear all the cameras clicking in the background. I know he was a public figure, but still give Mrs. Reagan a break. She should have been able to say her final goodbye in private. I know they lowered the coffin in private. But still... Am I the only one who is thinking this?
I said the same exact thing last night, and we actually changed the channel. I started to cry because I felt so badly for her.

I wasn't aware that Ron went by a different name.

Maybe Michael was also talking directly to the Press............when he said his father never mentioned behind his back or in front of his back that he was adopted. To him and his father, there was never any difference in the love that they felt.

Why would it even be necessary to always mention "and his adopted son Michael." Maybe it's ok for a biography - in 194whatever he was adopted, but imho, once he was adopted, he became his son.

I don't know anything about the children's relationships but I'm sure that growing up the kids probably didn't have a lot in common because of their age differences, not to mention that they had two different households. I think Michael's eulogy showed that they still had great family time though when they were all together. I was also saddened that because of Maureen's death, she was not able to honor her father, but hopefully she greeted him when he went "home."

I also read a biography that President Reagan (and first wife) also had a baby daughter Christine that only lived a day.

ps - I do hope that the family was able to go back when the crowds left.

They said on the news that Ron now goes by Ronald P. Reagan, (I think that was the middle initial)

Did anyone else feel sorry for Michael? He has always been on the outside looking in all his life and it think it continued through the funeral. He probably had the best relationship with his father.

Yes, I too was sad there wasn't "room" for Michael, but I thought it was so gracious of Ron to step aside for Michael to be there too.

The words by all the children were really poetic. Just wonderful.

I am sure the reason that the spouses were not there during that moment we are all speaking of , was simply planned. Nancy and immediate children only. The spouses then came afterwards for their time to say goodbye. It was all so proper. All organized by Ronald and Nancy AND the state Funeral by the ARmy (yes, they said the ARmy organized the plan of action). Very proper.

You think one of those media shutterbugs would stop clicking while the others were clicking away and getting the "picture of the 'century'"? No way. if you are going to click away, so am I. She allowed them there. I hated too hearing those cameras click away though.
