I think we're over the values...

We're just leaving from a quick weekend trip and I think we discovered we're over the values. The last couple of times we stayed moderate and deluxe and it's just... difficult to go back. I am again reminded that even the moderates are just so much nicer in every aspect. I know values have their, well, value - but I'm still going to be nervous to go back even when they're all refurbished. We didn't have a great experience.

I'm sorry that you didn't have a stellar experience at a Value Resort. They are not my cup of tea, either. I only stay at one if I'm trying to save on DVC points and am arriving late in the day. Would you care to give details as to why this particular trip was not up to standards?

There were tour groups there (teens) that kept is up all night. And I have back issues and the beds we're just not tolerable for me.

It depends on the type of trip that we are having.

I had a trip in September 2017 and stayed at Sports. We had a wonderful time.

We are over the Values as well. But we came to that conclusion 10 years ago. The last time we were in a Value, the food court reminded me of a Friday night at our local mall. :scared: That's all I'm going to say about that. Take it for what you will.

We have only stayed at POP and never had a bad experience however we much prefer mod/deluxe now. I would stay at POP again especially with the newly renovated rooms but not sure if my husband would be on board.

I’m not a huge fan either. Usually just use for arrival night but last Dec stayed 10 days at Pop. It was just ok. Couldn’t get excited for it like I usually look forward to mod or deluxe stay. We weren’t planning a lot of resort time and it was winter so pool wasn’t an issue.
Having said this, we were in a new room at Pop and they were really nice. Bed was very comfy. Better than the Por beds.

We stay in them for a night or two during split stays, I can't see us staying an entire trip but I would never say never. We like to stay at the Epcot resorts and have been staying at Swan/Dolphin the last 3 or 4 trips, the price can be pretty equal to a moderate, especially now that Disney charges for parking. The last two times we stayed at Sports my son said he would have no problem staying there the entire trip. The only time we use the food court is for breakfast so it's not a huge issue for us. My only real problem with them is that they have no hot tub at the main pool and we need one just about every day since my son has nerve damage in his spine. We always swore we wouldn't stay an entire trip at a moderate, just used those for a day or two during split stays but we did stay at CS last December for our entire trip and it wasn't horrible. My only problem was that we love Epcot and HS and when we stay at Dolphin, we can walk and have to take the bus from CS. Otherwise, it is a great resort and we really enjoyed it.

Value was ok until we stayed mod and deluxe so your right it is really hard to go back... I think I would stay POP if it was a very busy trip but we typically like to take 5-10 trips and relax at the resort.
POR is my absolute favorite mod, I want to try POFQ, hubby is happiest at the Poly tho..

You sound a lot like my daughter and god-daughter. After 4 trips at a moderate I upgraded them to a stay at Animal Kingdom Lodge. After we got back both informed me that they are now deluxe girls and when I plan our 6th trip in 2021 I need to plan deluxe. Sigh what is worse it they have picked out the next hotel. They want the Poly.

I've tried them too and we just don't like them either.
AoA Family Suite was fine but none of the others are places we'll ever stay for a full trip. Late night arrival stays are fine, I can handle anything for a single night but after that, we just aren't happy there. Rooms are just too small and resorts overall too chaotic. And that's been without a tour group of any sort being around.
We love the Mods and the Deluxe.

I realized I was over the values the moment I walked into one! We were just planning on staying at POFQ, but Irma meant that we had to either arrive early or cancel the whole trip as the flights would have been cancelled. To save on money we just booked 2 rooms at Pop and walking in was just too noisy and chaotic; it never felt quite right for me. Walking into POFQ truly felt like I was welcomed home and it will always have a special place in my heart (also it's not like the lobby was empty - due to the hurricane's imminent arrival Chip and Dale were actually having an impromptu meet and greet and some stranded cruise passengers turned it into pirate night, but it all just felt right)!

That being said, I can understand why some people do love the values. I'm sure kids love the oversized decorations and music and bright lights. It could be seen as "fun" for them. I do have one night booked at an All-Star for an upcoming trip, but that will just be a place to sleep before moving over to Beach Club. I don't see myself staying anywhere besides Mod/Deluxe unless it is that type of circumstance!

You mention too small rooms - this is also our reason to take values only into account for late night arrivals and such.

The entrance door of the room is so close to the beds and there is not much room to move around.

But all in all there is nothing really negative I can say about value resorts. We enjoyed our nights there, especially the preferred pool view room at POP. But a few additinal square feet make me enjoy the room more.

We have been over the values for years now. Hopefully the new updates will make them nicer, but we just felt everything was too low end. From the toilet paper to the mattresses, to the sheets and the towels. Just moving up to a moderate we found the quality of those items were much better. Then you have the noise level. For whatever reason the values seem to be 100 times louder than the other resorts. And we also prefer the bus stop set up at the moderate and deluxe resorts. We like having a nice covered area to wait for the buses.

But when trying to save a buck we still book a value once in a while. Usually if we decide to arrive a night early, but won't arrive till late evening we book a value and just move to our resort the next morning. Or like this past trip when we could only get 5 nights at the Poly. We ended up booking 3 nights at a value with military discount to save on those first three nights before we moved for our 5 nights at the Poly. I think what I paid for all three nights at the value was less than one night at the Poly, so it made sense especially since the Poly wasn't available anyway.

To each their own..We like PoP.. and are excited to try ASmovies for one night after our cruise. I think it really gives me that WDW feeling. The rooms are not that small and bus service was never an issue.. I almost feel like PoP is for me an extension of a park, loud ( not in a bad way, but LIFE!) now if I wanted a spal like relaxing holiday then value is probably not it.. For me, If I wanted to feel Mickey and have a busy happy time, I'd prefer values.

No we have stayed at BC, AK and many mods. they have their benefits too. We love SAB.

We think we found our happy point a split stay at PoP followed by BC

I am sorry you didn't enjoy the value. Which value resort did you stay at??

I joke that the room was so small on our first (and only) stay at Pop I had to go outside to change my mind! LOL
I couldn't even get the stroller in the door because the door hit the bed and that was before they put bigger beds in the rooms. I shudder to think what it is like in there now, with both beds down. I guess if you only need/use 1 bed then it's fine.
