I think we are officially done with Disney!!

I agree, but the park/experience is still new, while Disney's is old. You have to give it a few more trips.

Taht said, I can't wait to go, I just want to be sure it's not packed wall to wall.

I agree with you on that. I'm looking forward to our next trip and hope it won't be a madhouse.

Also, this may be nuts of me, but I kinda want to go in January because it may be cold at night. I would love to experience the snowy Hogsmeade when it's actually cold and not 95 degrees out!

That may be a weird reason, though. But January IS the offseason.....

Remember that the parks close quite early in the offseason. However, when we were there last February, the snowy Hogsmeade would have seemed very realistic!

What time DO they close in January? 7? Earlier?

After the Christmas break it may be as early as 6. That's the closing time for the off season this fall. It will depend on what kind of crowds they are getting.

Very interesting thread. Let's face it; Disney is excellent but with nothing new added and already higher prices getting higher, people are looking at alternatives. And Wizarding World of Harry Potter is a game-changer which is getting people to look that way. And they're finding out that there's some pretty damn good stuff at Universal.

People with younger kids should stick with Disney. No one does it better and many things at Islands of Adventure are just too scary for little tykes. But pre-teens and teens; Uni does those ages and older better overall, IMO.

Kudos to those complaining about Adventurers Club and Pleasure Island being closed now for 2 years. It's a travesty and you need to keep telling Disney to fix it. Once again, Universal and it's CityWalk offers something for adults to have some fun without the kids where Disney has seemingly written adults off!

The title of this thread sounds dumber and dumber every time I see it. Disney will always have something new and could easily surpass the thrill rides at Universal some day.... heck it may buy out Universal some day. I'm not saying that's going to happen but to say you're offically done with Disney sounds unreasonable to me.

M'kay?

I haven't been fortunate enough to visit Disney as often as I'd like. If I could, I would probably go every other year. As it's worked out, we get there every four or five years. I guess that has turned out for the best because it doesn't ever get old for me. I love Disney and I can't imagine that that will ever change.

That being said, I loved my first trip to Universal. We finally went because of the WWoHP. The theming there is phenomenal. I am a huge Potter geek and my friend and I were nearly skipping as we neared Hogsmeade. I didn't cry, but it did take my breath away. It was magical and I will definitely be back.

My only gripe/criticism was with Citywalk. I get that the primary "theming" there is skewed to adults with the nightclub atmosphere. But we are not nightclubby people. We headed over there for dinner every night and had fun, but there is an utter dearth of shopping. They really need to improve that by adding some additional shops. That is where Downtown Disney beats Citywalk. But that's just me.

Anyway, at this point, I love both. My next trip will be to Disney, hopefully, next year. This time, I'm sure I'll miss Universal, particularly Hogsmeade.

I've been to Universal the same amount of times as Disney. Right now Disney is running alot cheaper as an entire package, but as other's said I don't want the magic to rub off by going too often!

Believe it or not there are actually people out there who dislike Disney. I don't think that most here do but just some of us prefer Universal or at least like it as much as Disney. Some have to make a choice and decide to choose Universal. I would.

If I had to choose between Universal Orlando and WDW, Universal Orlando would win every time. However, if you threw Disneyland into the mix, I would probably choose Disneyland.

I used to agree that Disney was always better... but recently they just haven't impressed me. I'm really enjoying Universal so much so that I actually just turned down free admission to Disney this weekend. There isn't anything new and there is very little for adults. I think Universal will be our park of choice for the next several years until Disney brings back some of what they have lost. (or they DECREASE price along with their reduced offerings...)

Just my opinion, but I was a die hard Disney fan. It is almost scary that Disney is losing some of us. I never thought I would see the day...

Totally agree with you. We only went to Disney, never even thought about going to Universal. Because of a mix-up two years ago, we ended up at Universal and now prefer it. My 12 year old now asks when will we get to go back and doesn't care about going to Disney-and she was the biggest Princess lover ever! But with the crowds, the rushing from place to place and fast pass to fast pass, the people who seem to be getting ruder, Disney has lost a lot of its' appeal. This long weekend we are going back only to Universal-helps we are Florida residents and we have annual passes-and we got a great rate for a night at RPR! And my daughter couldn't be happier. . .

I'm so with you there. I might choose Universal still, but I think Disneyland is probably the single best theme park in the world.

I am so happy to hear other people put Disneyland at the top of their lists!!!

I've always felt this way and people have looked upon me like the red-headed stepchild who doesn't know what she's talking about.

I prefer Universal myself, but if I had a week to spend on one or the other I'd choose WDW over Universal because it has a lot more to do. There's just so much that could happen in the future, how could you say you're officially done with Disney? Either way if you spend too much time at one or the other you're going to burn your self out like someone else mentioned.

If I lived it FL I would own AP's to both Disney and Universal.

A Disney ten day non expiring hopper pass with water parks has almost doubled in price since 2003. Too bad my income hasn't.

They get expensive after a while even with the FL resident discount.

Good thing I dont live near Orlando then, because me and my wife would both get second jobs just to afford them. Of course that would defeat the purpose of because we would no longer have time to visit.
