I think the rides are too dark!

I really noticed this trip that the rides are too dark! Obviously some of them have to be dark but they're too dark to make out much detail in many instances, and I'm SURE that they didn't used to be this dark. Pirates, for example - I remember seeing bits of driftwood with cats sitting on them, floating around, but I could barely make them out this time. And you can hardly see any of the first part of the ride. Then on Phantom Manor you can hear the doors knocking by themselves but you can't see the door handles moving (incidentally, the bit where you see the ghost sitting on your car wasn't working the entire time we were there). Also on Peter Pan's Flight, we couldn't see the bit where you fly over London and look down and see cars moving along. At first we thought it was because it was very bright outside and our eyes hadn't adjusted but it definitely wasn't that as it was very dreary weather the rest of the time and it was exactly the same (although Peter Pan did get a bit better so maybe it was a fault the first time).

Anybody else notice this?

I saw the cats but one was really hard to make out, saw cars moving around London no problem. Maybe rides are darker or maybe we're just getting old *sigh*

Know what you mean about Phantom Manor mirrors, was a bit sad not to see the ghoul. I'm sure when I went back in 1992 there were two different types of ghosts, one drapped behind you or if you were sitting by yourself it looked like one was next to you. Sorry to be OT, it just reminded me!

I only really find the queuing area for POTC too dark. I can't see in there at all.... Robert has to guide me round it! Even he was cussing his way around it last time because he kept walking into the walls....

I think it must have been a fault on Peter Pan, as I've seen the cars moving along the streets of London every time of the umpteen we've done that ride :goodvibes .
I agree that the start of the boatride part of POTC is too dark - you really can't see a lot at all - even at the Blue Lagoon. I love the atmosphere the darkness gives the queue area of POTC (having said that, I don't think I'd actually like to queue in it for long  ).
I haven't done PM yet, so don't know about that one.
I think some of my impressions of "dark" rides were formed partly through my DD's reaction to them. Last year we went on Pinocchio and thought it was dark, and pretty scary. This time I wondered what on earth we'd found scary, or dark? I still haven't been able to persuade DD back onto Snow White, again because of her first impression - dark and very scary.

When we were there last month we both felt Peter Pan was way too dark!

When we were there in May we commented on a few rides being too dark. Peter Pan being the worst culprit. We will have to try very hard to get Josh back on as the dark was really starting to spook him, his eyes are only 3 and way better than mine and he thought it was dark.

W both thought PP was too dark in the london bit!!

And the potc queue (just as you get inside) was really dark!!!!

i agree about potc. the queuing area is way to dark. i couldnt stay there too long. we had like a five minute wait and my dd was wriggling everywhere *** it was so dark she had nothing to look at. i did find myself squinting to try see parts of the ride

i agree about the POTC queue, i always trip over when it turns into a bit of a ramp and i end up feeling my way along the wall lol

Oh yes, the POTC queue is the worst of the lot, I quite agree!!! It's really dangerous, I think...

Glad it's not just me then!!

I noticed the POTC is really dark when it's really sunny out-the eyes have a tough time adjusting! And I agree with OP that the cats on POTC you can not see anymore but you used to be able to! Does anyone notice the Fantasyland dark rides go too fast? And Phantom manor-it seems to me that you fly through them-as opposed to at WDW, I think the rides are a bit slower...I can barely focus on anything, it goes so fast!

phantom manor does move pretty quickly, but everytime i'm on it and the ride gets stopped i always seem to end up in front of the manically laughing skeleton :scared1: at least when it stops there's a bit of time to take in the ride

Same here, that really made me laugh. Twice I stopped in front of the growling zombie dog thing. If I look into their eyes too much they start to freak me out. I blame watching Westworld at far too young an age.

we went on POTC last Friday night when attending the MNSSHP and I have to say I was a bit apprehensive before hand about going in and not been able to see but they had lights on :wizard: it was so nice actually seeing where you were going and really didn't spoil the atmosphere at all.

PP was fine when we were there but no ghosts on PM, guess we'll just have to hope they are back in time for our next trip !!

I too think some of the rides are a bit dark - DD1 (3.5 years) wasn't too sure about PP at first but she soon was OK with it - purely down to the dark I believe. Also Snow White & Pinnochio are dark too - obviously they are 'meant' to be because of what they feature but I'm sure they could turn the light up just a little!

I completely missed the ghosts at Phantom Manor - clearly?? Remember the rabid dog though with the red eyes - he was spooky!

The end bit of the ride when the cars go past mirrors- You should see a 'Ghoul' clinging to the top of your car....
