I think MS messed up!

I called this morning to see if I could switch at my 7 month window and MS cancelled 1/2 my stay at treehouse villas and then told my that I needed to borrow 40 pts to complete the stay at BC. Why couldn't she have told me that first? I want the treehouse back!:mad:
Sorry just venting! I hope someone has a great stay Dec. 11-15 in MY THV!

Sorry you were disappointed.

FWIW, it's a good practice to figure out exactly what a stay will cost before you call. It shouldn't be a surprise. If you are switching a reservation, it is also good practice to know which points you want to use /reuse so that you know what to expect for results.

I ask MS to give me a "points status" of my account before I hang up after making or changing a reservation. If that status doesn't match mine, well, it's a lot easier to correct errors right when they happen with the person familiar with what was done, than after the fact with someone else.

Hope you have a wonderful time at the BCV and end up thinking the "extra" points were worth it.
 
If you had enough points without borrowing, then Member Services will correct the mistake, but you need to talk to a lead or supervisor that has authority to make manual adjustments. I had points borrowed when they didn't need to be a few years ago.

Otherwise, I agree with Carol, it is always good to know what your point status is, and how many points will be required for any reservation before you call Member Services.
 
You can't expect that MS will do what you want.

You need to know everything before you call and tell them what to do and how to do it. Know your point status before you call and get current point status after they touch your account.

I also have my account screen up so I can see the changes that they have made.

If you want the MS CMs to do the math for you before making any changes you would need to ask. In other words, you could ask "If I cancel 1/2 of my THV stay would the points returned to my account be enough to book a 2BR at BCV for those same nights?" They could then look at what each of those nights is costing you at THV, what the same nights would be at BCV and tell you how many more points you would need. If you don't ask, I think they assume you did the math yourself, have decided this is what you want to do and so they go ahead and do what you have requested. I don't think it's fair to say "MS messed up!" unless what you meant is that they borrowed points when you had plenty of banked or current UY points in your account.

I prefer to do the math myself before I call. I've had MS CMs book the wrong room type which I caught because the number of points they quoted me didn't match what I was expecting.
 
Some of the MS CM's know what they are doing and some don't. A few years back I had one that was borrowing points from a future use year when I had plenty of current use year points available for the reservations I was trying to make. When I realized what she was doing to my account I totally freaked. She eventually realized she had totally messed up and put the future use year points back where they belonged but I still had a hard time verifying everything was back to normal.

Another time I called and was making several reservations for different trips at different resorts. I started by making the reservation that didn't require any banking or borrowing. When I got to the next one the first thing I ask them to do was bank points for me. They were a bit confused because I had what seemed to be plenty of points but when I asked for BWV during Food & Wine time they realized what I was doing and were quite impressed at how prepared I was.
