I think I have lost it! I just booked the Dolphin with Starwood points for Decebmer 27 - January 2. We have never been during this week and I really hope it's not quiet as bad as everyone says. Oh well, here we go......

My newly married wife and I will be spending our disneymoon at WDW during that same week! I check to see how rooms are filling up once a week and the only cat. that is full is value. Everything else looks to have rooms still. The only mod. that looked full was the hotel we are staying at, POFQ. I am hoping with free dining and all the other deals that happened earlier in the month that it will not be as crowded!

DH and I recently booked a WDW trip as well! We're going Dec 30-Jan 4th. We will be staying at the Dolphin. I had no problems getting all of my ADR's & got every restaurant/time that I wanted.

Its all about having fun, just consider yourself amongst several hundred thousand of your closest friends! Its not uncommon for MK to close its gates
in the morning of the 31st & 1st due to the crowd.

All I will say is if you go to MK on december 31 get there early. Couple years ago they reached capacity by noon and anyone on the outside well you get the point. We arrived that year by around 10am. If you want to be on mainstreet for the midnight bit plan to find your spot by 8pm. At 10pm we couldn't get to mainstreet but we did get on a bunch of rides a little bit faster, maybe 5%faster. Either way we had fun that night, our day was a little bad as there were scattered showers.

We were there last year and will be there again this year. Plan your meals and your FP's wisely! I personally LOVED every second of it. We spent New Years at HS and it was a huge party. Go early to which ever park you get. They reached capacity they said by noon last year, but they were still letting people in slowly all day. Don't hop whatever you do that day lol. It is like Christmas Day at MK for sure.

Well, people reported less-than-normal crowds for Thanksgiving week, so you may be in for a pleasant surprise.

I will be at Beach Club for the same dates!!
This is the third time we have spent the week from Christmas to NYE in Disney and yes it is crowded but obviously we keep coming back and love it!

As long as you go into it knowing what to expect and are accepting of that you will be fine. I agree with the previous poster, just think of it as spending NYE with a few thousand plus of your closest friends!

We're going from 28th Dec to 8th Jan -this will be the second time we've been at this time of year and we love it!
Yes it's busy but as long as you have realistic expectations you'll have a blast!


To the PP who asked about ADR's for 31st -I was changing some ADR's last night and Boma and Jiko still had slot free for dinner. Not sure about the park restaraunts though.

If the Thanksgiving crowds were less than normal, then I would hate to see the crowds at "normal" levels. We left the Wed before Thanksgiving, but the crowds the first of the week were the worst we have ever experienced. When the fast passes are gone in the morning, and there is a long line for the TTA, DW is not for our family!

I made my ADR's last week and was able to get 'Ohana for NYE (5:30 pm). I wanted an earlier dinner time so we could head on over to the Boardwalk area later in the evening.

I'm sure the Park restaurants for NYE are all booked up. Keep trying though. Things open up all the time!

Well, I was able to get an ADR for San Angel Inn at 5:35 p.m. Not my favorite place to eat, but all I could get at Epcot. I also got lunch ADR for Nine Dragons for 12. I figure we will get to Epcot around opening do what we can at the park, eat lunch, do more walking around or whatever at Epcot, eat dinner, come out from dinner in time to watch Illuminations at 7:30 p.m. and then we can either call it a night or keep going. I was actually able to get ADRs for everyday somewhere while we are there except the 1st, I just haven't tried because I'm not sure where we'll end up. I guess it's just going to be CS that day.

I didn't think about the fact that it might be less crowded due to the earlier deals. Hope that is the case but I went this week MANY years ago and it wasn't so bad. I use the Unofficial Guide to Disney which explains how the rides works. Has worked like a charm for me everytime. As for ADR's, we are doing our sitdown at lunch so that we can do the quicker QS later. I am concerned though now due to other posts that, since we are leaving the park that day to go to Whispering Canyon, that we will lose our ability to go back into the park. If we get our hands stamped and are staying at a Disney property, will we get back in?
