I've been thinking a long time about the fact that I need to lose weight. I was diagnosed with Obstructive Sleep Apnea and have IBS. I love food and LOVE sweets and that is my problem. I could probably eat a whole box of cookies or a cake in one sitting if I put my mind to it.

I have seen a bunch of people, including local people, who have tried it and the number one thing they have said is that it helps their cravings for sweets and other things.

Can anyone on these boards give me some input?

Thanks - Di;)

I have not used it personally, but here is some information and a review.

This part would concern me the most:

"Long-term weight loss would depend greatly on each individual on the Isagenix Diet. Their formula for long-term success calls for participants to always use their products so there is no telling how well weight loss in the long run would go should a participant choose to discontinue using the Isagenix Diet products.

The Isagenix Diet is not a hard diet to follow, but it is going to be hard to do for those who do not have a lot of money. The products are very expensive and while you can get the products for a lot less if you become a distributor, that means you have to go out and sell the Isagenix Diet for yourself and this might not comfortable for some."

Not sure if I would do a "cleansing diet" if you have IBS. That is what stood out to me in your post.

I am not a fan of fad diets to begin with though and anything that is a MLM, I would not touch with a 10 ft. pole.

I appreciate everyone's feedback. I've printed off all the ingredients and ran it past my MD and we agree that this might be a good option for me. I know what triggers my IBS and it is the junk I crave. By eliminating this junk and putting protein, nutrients and vitamins in my system, it should help my cravings while helping me to eliminate the fat and build muscle and sleep better - which may help my IBS.

Hope to start in a few weeks to I'll update everyone.

Di:)

I have used it before and have some intestinal issues as well. You are welcome to pm if you wish:goodvibes

Wanted to update everyone that I ordered my Pacesetter's Pak last night. I talked to MANY people, reviewed with my MD, etc. and this seems to be where I need to start.

Wish me luck and I will try and remember to post updates.

Thanks for the messages!! :)

It's a roller coaster diet. I know someone who does it. They do it for 10 days, lose a ton of weight, spend the next couple months gaining it back and then do it all over again. Like I said, Roller Coaster Diet. It's not cheap either

I heard about this diet, heard good things. but id be concerned with some of whats been mentioned above.

I wouldnt mind just doing the cleanse thou.

Please keep us posted. good luck!

I do hope you nothing but success OP but I am a believer that any of these diets that use shakes or pre-packaged foods are good for the short term only and even then only if other changes are made to your lifestyle.

Diets don't work for losing weight and keeping it off. Lifestyle change works. I think the far superior way to lose weight is to learn to cook and consume real, healthy foods in the proper portions and get daily activity. That is really the only permanent weight-loss solution I have ever seen. YMMV.

While I completely agree with this, I do want to say I had some success with a prepackaged diet years ago. I used it for 3 months and lost a considerable amount of weight very quickly in that time. When I came off the diet, I had to learn to do exactly what you are saying. I had to relearn how to cook, portion, and get my exercise in. And only those changes helped me keep the weight off for several years. Its when the exercise dropped off and the junk started coming back into my diet the weight did as well. My point, it can work to jumpstart you, but it does not substitute the reality of having a healthy lifestyle. There are no magic pills or diets. I have found weight watchers to be the best real life " diet" program around. There is a reason it has been around all these years.

I was skeptical as well but I've done a ton of research. I am addicted to sugar and drink caffeine and do not eat healthy. Yes, I of course want to lose the weight, but I am hoping it will help me with my sugar/caffeine cravings and promote overall wellness.

I will update everyone.

Hi Everyone! Thank you for all the PM's and encouragement. I'm sorry I haven't updated this so here it goes - I started Isagenix this past Monday, 12/16. I spent Sunday evening reviewing all my papework again and laying out all my Monday meals. I also, over the weekend, tried a shake in the blender for consistency and measurements, which made Monday easier. Monday went fine - I DID drink one cup of coffee, but stayed away from all other sweets and fried foods. Tuesday went great too - laid out all my stuff the night before. I really stuck to the schedule and ate my snacks, even if I wasn't hungry. You need to know that I am a snacker and graiser. I will literally eat all day if given that option, but I honestly was not hungry. Each shake has over 20g of protein. Water has been the most difficult as I really don't like it, but I am adding more and more each day.

Wednesday was the toughest as it was my first cleanse. Let me point out that this is NOT a colon cleanse of fluids you take like before a colonoscopy. It is a fruit flavored drink, packed with vitamins and antioxidants that you take four times a day. You also have snacks. I didn't read the snack description the way I should have so I actually ate almonds and a granola bar when I shouldn't have, but it still was fine. Let me also say that I have IBS, so I was TERRIFIED of what this cleanse would do. What did it do? Absolutely nothing. I didn't have an upset stomach, gas or anything. It went very, very smoothly. My energy was down, as I knew it would be and was told it would be, so I went to bed early and slept like a rock. It is recommended you do the cleanse for 2 days, but with my IBS, I said no, for now at least.

Thursday, today and day 4, I just had to weigh myself! Everyone at work told me that my voice wasn't as bloated and to be honest, I just felt better. So I went and weighed myself on the same scale I had when I started - FOUR POUNDS DOWN!!!! I am estatic! I do contribute it to the removal of the fried and processed foods, but the kicker is that I haven't wanted them to begin with. This time last week I did, but my cravings are definitely down.

I will update again soon but just wanted to report in.

Thanks again for all the messages - Diane :cool1:

You only measure and weight yourself on certain days, that is why I mentioned I shouldn't have weighed today, but couldn't help myself. Hope to continue down this journey to reach my ideal weight and then switch to their maintenance system. Di
