I think I just did a bad thing - UPDATE...DVD received.

When I signed up for the account, I received an automated email confirming my account, etc. It contained an email address so I decided to ask a question about delivery timelines to see if anyone answered. I immediately received an answer that said I would receive tracking information as soon as the item was shipped and they usually ship same-day....

At least someone answered!

This is almost certainly a bootlegged copy of the movie. Once they go in the vault, most of the copies for sale are bootlegs from Asia. You can find legit DVDs on Amazon, but they will cost you big $$$$. Or you can find new & used legit DVDs on ebay, just read the descriptions carefully.
I bought a used copy of Toy Story 1&2 together on Amazon for something like $23, advertised as like new. The company sells DVDs that had been rentals. When I got them they sure didn't look "like new" so I called them up. They returned my money and told me to keep the movies. They work just fine even if they aren't pretty and are the legal original versions. I just wanted something that will do until they're released on Blu Ray.

My long winded point is you can find them for reasonable prices legally. (though so far The Lion King has remained pricey) If you keep checking back the prices tend to go up and down so you just have to catch it at the right time.

My thoughts are - if it's in the Vault, and you CAN'T buy it legally, what other option is there? (I hate that Disney does that, but that's a topic for another thread - lol)

You could buy a used licensed copy or wait for it to come back out of the vault and buy it legally. I know that sounds simplistic, but you do have other options besides buying illegal copies of Disney movies.

I do also hate that they put movies "back in the vault", though. I buy them when they are for sale because I figure I'll want them eventually, but I'd rather know they will always be available. Maybe at some point they will keep selling them all the time.

So, I received the dvd on Christmas Eve. According to the postmark, it came from Thailand! The dvd itself was in a commercial looking case and was shrinkwrapped. However I get the impression it is a used DVD. The front was the standard Toy Story logo. The reverse side was in a foreign language (Asian-looking characters). When I popped the dvd in, I immediately had to choose English. I played the entire movie and it was totally fine.

So DGS will get his Toy Story movie next week when we go to Virginia for our second Christmas, along with Buzz Lightyear wing pack, cuffs, and an array of other stuff.

We are also giving them a trip to Disney in July (of course, we will accompany them and stay in a 2 br villa at WL).

I've been following the story and I'm glad it all worked out. Moral and legal implications aside, it's very possible to get a pirate copy of a movie that is very high quality. The packaging & label graphics may not measure up, but the movie can be identical to the released version. No one here wants to buy a pirate copy, nor would I encourage anyone to do so. Note that package design on legitimate releases can vary from country to country.:earsboy:

I'm glad it worked out, and arrived on time!
