I think I had my first hot flash.......... I was minding my own business having a lovely lunch with a bunch of girlfriends today, when I little felt like I was on fire.......mostly my face and upper body......my face got all flushed...... hard to describe but not a pleasant experience............I just turned 45........is that what I have to look forward too.........

Not sure if it was a flash or not. I'm 41 and have had them on and off for the last year or so. They seem to go on for a couple of months then stop for a while. Mine start out barely noticeable for a couple weeks and slightly intensify daily until they become very strong (My face, neck and chest turn bright red) but thankfully only last about a minute or two.

I have about a dozen a day - this is definitely a good time of year for them because I just open the front door for an icy blast of air :thumbsup2

I don't mind them - night sweats are worse. Good luck :flower3:

I am so not looking forward to those! My mom has them and they actually aggravate(hope I spelled that right) her rosacea. She looks all Jolly like Santa but is saying she feels like she's getting a preview of h***! Get a fan and some light colored clothing girlfriend!;)

Yeah that's a hot flash.;)

I started getting mine this past year. I went to the doctor and they put me on a hormone patch. I started with Alora, but had to change because the adhesive was making me break out. Now I am on Vivelle and it is a third of the size of the Alora patch and it is great. No more hot flashes.:cool1::thumbsup2

Yup, that was it! Good times ; )

Wearing V neck shirts help and wear all natural fibers .

The night sweats are ICKKK.. Be sure to wear a cotton top to bed.

I am 36 and am on Lupron for 6 months . I have been on it for 2 months and in full blown menopause and unfortunately cant take anything to make it better. I had to start taking Lunesta to sleep through the night , because the hot flashes kept waking me up.

LOL DH can tell when I am having one as my ears and neck turns bright red, he asks if I am having a " hottie " .

My poor family is freezing at night this week, I wont let them turn up the heat more than about 60, because the heat on in the house triggers them .
I am loving this cold weather, I just walk outside.

4 more shots and I am done!! WOO HOO!!!

feels like this, yes?

And so the "fun" begins.. LOL..

I was lucky - completed menopause by the time I was 48 - and for the most part the only time I had hot flashes were at night.. So I always slept with the window open and no heat on all winter long - and the a/c blasting cold air in the summer.. I got so used to the "window open/no heat on" that I still do it to this day - even though the hot flashes are long gone.. LOL..

Seems I remember taking some kind of vitamin the doctor told me to get to ward off the hot flashes during the day.. I want to say 800 units of vitamin E a day - and it did hold them at bay - but I'm not 100% sure it was "E", so don't try it without speaking to your doctor..

I feel so bad for DD's MIL.. :( She's in her 60's and has been going through menopause for years now.. Her face is constantly BEET red - to the point where it looks like she's been burned.. She's pretty miserable about it and thus far nothing has helped her..:sad2:

I was lucky - maybe you will be too! :goodvibes

I'll soon be 52 and have never had a hot flash. Since I'm cold all the time, I've kind of been looking forward to them.

Welcome to the club! One of the good things about living in Florida is that people think it is the heat making me sweat like a pig. Fortunately, they only last a couple of minutes at a time!

We should get together for lunch sometimes. My face flushes too....beet red. :sad2: Been happening a few years, but it's not menopause (TRUST me....periods still around...:rolleyes1), but I don't know why. Oh, and I'll be 36 in March. I'm sure we'd be quite a sight to watch! LOL!

I'm 45. No sign of any yet. I take Lexapro for anxiety and it has removed all traces of PMS for years now. A very pleasant side effect. I wonder if it gets rid of hot flashes too. That would be awesome. :thumbsup2

There is nothing worse than going out in public and having one. It's so obvious. That bright red face. My family can sometimes see that I am having one before I feel it. LOL This has been going on for 7 years. Still no sign of letting up. The lack of sleep at night is a good one, too. When will it end????????????

I'm only 35, but I started having hot flashes 3-4 years ago. Ugh. I'm usually cold all the time - even in summer - but a hot flash in the dead of winter is most uncomfortable!

Just had one the other day when my mother and I were at the AT&T store getting her a cell phone. I just suddenly started to sweat and had to fan myself; Mum noticed my bright red face, grinned, clapped me on the back and loudly said, "Having a hot flash there, kid?"

I don't know what was more embarrassing...actually having the hot flash itself in public, having my mother announce it to the store, or the fact that she still calls me "kid" when I'm 35 years old...

DS7 was just holding my hand, which I guess is very warm.

He told me he thinks I am having a hand hot flash . :rotfl:

Guess he has heard me complain a bit too much about the flashes .

Oooooh, be careful what you wish for! I thought I would not mind them becasue I was always cold. I cannto believe that I argue with Dh aboaut the heat. I shut is off......he turns it up. I open the window, he turns red! I kick all of the blankets off the bed, he shivers! I stand on the porch and wait for the waves of heat to go. I feel like I have those waves like you see on the asphalt in the summer. I swear that is what it feels like to me.....
