So I've been planning our first Disney World trip for April. We will be celebrating our 1 year wedding anniversary early. Last year we went to Disneyland as part of our honeymoon.

After I found this website, I feel like my obsession has skyrocketed and I am being a super planner as the days go by. :scared1: I have my pretty excel sheet with color coded entries, etc. I know however, that I am tame compared to some of you. :worship: :rotfl2:

I have a silly story to share. With all my excitement I keep sharing with my DH all the plans I have for us. I couldn't tell if he was paying attention...he just kept laughing at me and wouldn't stop. He said I sound like I work at Disney World.:confused3

So guess what I did? I thought it was brilliant! I quizzed him!

Me - Where are we going to dinner our first night?
DH - Boma <<-- Wow he got it right!
Me - Where is Boma?
DH - Animal Kingdom Lodge << -- Haha! Right again.
Me - What are we going to do after dinner?
DH - Go to downtown Disney or if we're tired go back to our resort. <<-- He was paying attention!
Me - What are we doing the next day?
DH - Go to Animal Kingdom <<-- Yes!
Me - Where are we going to eat there?
DH - Coral Reef.
Me - What?! Coral Reef isn't even in the Animal Kingdom!

But I thought he did pretty good. He was listening! But then he said he had a quiz for me too. He just bought a bunch of cables for this new TV that he ordered. He showed me the cables and I had to name what they were! I actually did pretty good too!

Sometimes I just feel like I can't contain my excitement! All I think about is Disney World. I dream about it every night. I hope my excitement won't wear off before my trip!!!

If you think about WDW 6 days out of 7 then you should be fine. Try not to do more than that. ;)

I confess, I am obsessed lol. Tonight I went to take the ferry and I noticed they installed 2 big fish tanks in the terminal and my first thought was "If they put a little cafe in here it could have a Coral Reef vibe", followed by "of course if they don't it is still reminiscent of the living seas. I don't see any Nemo looking fish though". I swear Disney needs to have some sort of rehab lol.

Good for you! Planning takes a vacation that will last a week and be over in a flash and turns it into something you can enjoy for many months before the trip even begins. I build binders full of info for the drive down there, have pockets for ADR #'s, etc, etc, etc. But I mainly do it so I can have something Disney-related to do as an outlet for my excitement.

Have fun planning!

i think that most everyone on the disboard is a big planner. we are always planning our next disney trip. i have questions about disneyland. we are going june 5-12 for the 1st time. did you have any good dinners at the parks or resorts? tell me your experience!

I am completely with all you planners out there...my DH also teases me wildly about the thought that goes into planning our Disney holidays to Florida. To me a) it makes perfect sense to plan something that costs ££££ and b) when the weather is 5 degrees, dull and miserable ...planning / reading the Disboards for half an hour at the end of a long day is a little piece of 'free magic'. :woohoo: Go planners!

AND (most importantly for us...) it saves time and stress when we're there...everyone knows what we're up to / possibilities for that day...with two young children...vital!

I am also noticing that I am becoming seriously obsessive about this trip. My future DH is not too surprised though, because I tend to do that about lots of things. I just want to make this vacation as magical as I possibly can for my family!

I need help figuring out what days to go to what parks.....

I've seen on websites where they say, but sometimes I don't trust it....

any one willing to help me out and take a gander at my spreadsheet thus far??

I can't tell if it's planning or an obsession!!! I check in the morning, lunch, and before bed which usually delays my bedtime by two hours....

Caitlin,

Post your itinerary and I'm sure people will be able to help you out!

It's an Excel format - so unfortunately copying and pasting doesn't work that great.....

I would highly recommend you buy the tour guide Mike.....thing (I don't know what to call it! LOL) it saved me big time and I had no idea where or what to do until I got this. It's a little pricey (About 21.00) but soooo worth it! I would have to say that when we went last May and it was a pretty busy time his suggestions and sample tours of what ever park your going to that day was dead on!! He has many years of experience from working in the park as a tour guide and now he's his own tour guide company. This tour guide online book he puts out gives you all the exact same info. that he uses when people pay him over a 100 dollars to take them personally to all the parks.
I know all the information your looking at is very over-whelming, I've been there, but now I feel like a pro since I've been and I would not, and I repeat would not go without his guide. Hope this helps you.

Half hour??? I won't even say how much time I spend here :rolleyes1

It's comforting to know that others are just as obsessed as I am...I think it's turning into an addiction. I need to read the forums. I need to update my spreadsheet. Hahha =) :rotfl: My sister in law said this is just the start of it. Once I get there I will become more Disney crazed.

This is my first post. I've lurked through planning my family's first trip which was last month, and finally registered since the minute I got home I started planning our next trip for Feb. 2009. The DIS is so awesome. :thumbsup2 I find comfort that there are so many crazy Disney fans like me out there too. My family teases me a bit about my new found obsession, but was so appreciative and in awe of my knowledge once we were there. I owe the great sucess of our trip to everything I learned on the DIS from all of you. :worship: Thanks. Now back to planning, I only have 50 weeks to go. :rotfl2:

One of the funnest parts of our WDW trips is the planning for me. Reading the boards helps me to get through the months until we go. I know that people think that I'm nuts but they are the first to come to me when they have questions about a trip to WDW. We are excited and looking forward to our September trip.

I love to plan. It really is helping me pass the next 18 months til my next trip. My coworkers also believe I am a loon, but who do they come to with any Disney question? Me. Today another office sent a lady over to my office because she was taking her daughter to Disney next week and I would have tips for her. :rotfl: Once your planning reputation gets out you will get contacted by everyone.

All you people make me feel normal for spending all my time obsessing over my vacation that isn't until DEC!! :cool1:

I'm with you! MY DH and I are going with a group of friends, and it's been nice to share my wealth of Disney knowledge with a group of people.

The funniest part is watching DH absorb all of the information that I tell him about Disney!! We were out to dinner the other night, and the restaurant reminded me of the WL (the chandeliers looked like the ones in the WL lobby, lol....). He had actually picked up on it without me mentioning it!

My brother is going in a couple weeks, so it's been great to help him plan- he has a spreadsheet too!!!
