I Think Disney may be a little angry.

may be due to a copyright infringement.
Ya think? :sad2:
Looks like the company just wanted publicity may any means. Must be hard up for some business.

Disney does have to pursue these regardless of the intent, mainly due to the "sue it or lose it" rules regarding trademarks in the U.S.

One problem is that Disney does not exclusively own the story of Snow White itself - its a long standing fairy tale, like a lot of Disney's early films. They do, however own the likenesses of the characters they developed, and I believe any other unique elements to the story that did not exist in previous versions, such as the names and personalities of the dwarves.

If in the eyes of the court believes that the infringer used images and such that are substantially similar to the rights holder's, then they may be liable - greatly liable if it is shown there was intent to deceive...

Note that parody is often protected - and this could be considered parody in a sense, but if done for financial gain it may lose that protection.

IANAL though...

I think it was creative and edgy, and I like it. I must be a bad Dis-ophile. :lmao:

I don't know about edgy. That joke has been around for decades. I think Playboy or someone did something way back in the day. Not really very creative (or edgy) IMHO.

And that could be part of their case here - the original story does not specify a number of dwarfs or give any of them names, so the fact that this advertisement uses seven dwarfs and all of the likenesses are quite Disney-like could be hard to refute.
