I was determined to eat only low carb foods this trip to the world. I made it and ate quite well and too much.
Here's my rundown.
First night I bought a rotiserrie chicken from publix (never finished the whole thing even though I had a fridge in the room).
Breakfasts were atkins shakes and bars except one morning at Golden Corral where I had eggs, bacon and sausage.
Lunch at MGM BackLot counter service. Some kind of sesame chicken salad. I picked off the mandarin oranges and the chinese noodles. But did not enjoy the salad because it was made with plain iceberg lettuce.
Supper at Hollywood & Vine buffet. Great prime rib. Also had shrimp, ceasar salad, salmon, baked chicken.
MK lunch at Pecos Bills. Got a cheese burger, discarded the bun (all the cheese stuck on the bun so I might as well have had it without). Filled the paper tray with grilled mushrooms, grilled onions and lettuce from the fixins bar.
MK supper was a turkey leg. In between was a scoop of sugar free ice cream from main street.
Animal Kingdom lunch at Flame tree barbeque. I ordered the ribs without any sides. It was about $1.50 cheaper that way and it was a big slab of ribs.
At Epcot I got a sugar free cheesecake (yum) at the coffee shop in future world.
Supper that day was off site at Angels Lobster & Seafood buffet. Don't bother with that place. The lobster was tough, I've had better crablegs at my hometown chinese buffet but the prime rib was good.
Epcot lunch was a chicken ceasar salad at the Sunshine food fair in the Land.
Had a sugar free chocolate moose at Norway (yum). For supper it was a cheese plate from the bakery in France (didn't eat the fruit or the bread).
I ate well, probably too much, but I stuck to my diet.

That takes a lot of willpower. The last time we went I stuck to Atkins the first week, but the second week I was eating everything in sight. I'm happy for you!

Thanks so much for posting what you ate at Disney. I'm on South Beach and will be at Disney in June. I've been going through my mind with what I could have while there and many of your choices are ones I would make. You prove to me that it is possible to be at Disney and stay on plan. Good for you!

:bounce: CONGRATULATIONS :bounce: Sounds like you ate wonderfully, while being true to your new way of life! Good for you!!::yes::
I understand Lynn CC though, I went "off plan" between Christmas and New Years and also "ate everything in sight".
It took a lot of willpower and determination to stay on like that!!
:hyper: SUPERB!!

The SF ice cream in WDW has 22 carbs... none of that is sugar alcohol.... ouch! I thought it was guilt free too until I asked to see the wrapper. Same with the others, pudding especially ... has tons of carbs even though lo or no sugar. I must say though a much better choice than the other options. ::yes::

That's great! Your choices sounded great - I am not worried about having enough of the right things to eat the next time I get to WDW when I hear success stories like yours!

I figured the no sugar added treats at disney had carbs but since I passed on the kaki gori, the pastry in france, rice creams, mickey bars, frozen bananas, citrus swirls, beaver tails, I had to have something. The sugar free ice cream was not worth it but the no sugar added moose and cheesecake were worth every carb.

Bonnie you did a great job and it really shows the amazing determination and motivation you have! You're inspiring a lot of people who have trips or special events planned and feel they can't stay on program! Way to go Bonnie!:) :) :)

Congratulations on sticking to your diet, I can't imagine that it was easy for you, lord knows I can't stick to a plan while at WDW! You did a great job, keep it up! :D

Wow! You must be so proud of yourself, and with good cause.

I know we just started low carb eating, but I am already nervous about our upcoming trip.
You have given me hope.

I wonder if the chicken salad at Pecos Bills is low carb? It has a lime viniagrette on it, but I suppose without that it would be okay?

Bonnie, great job at staying on plan in WDW! It would take all my willpower to avoid the pastry shop in France! AWESOME! :)

Bonnie A, Forgive me if my post came off wrong, it's just I wanted to share the knowledge I learned from my mistakes (or oversights). You did a wonderful job, better than me... I ate a ton of carb loaded cake at Ohana's when we celebrated DFiance's b-day and our anniversary. ::yes::

GREAT JOB BonnieA!!!!!!

I can't wait to try those sugar-free pastries at Norway's bakery or the sugar free brownie at Cosmic Rays. I understand they are carb filled, but I'd rather have the carbs than the sugar in my diet anyday!

Congratulations, BonnieA, you should be so proud. I'm going to Hilton Head in 1 1/2 weeks, and I was sure I wouldn't be able to keep from cheating, but you're my inspiration. If you could pass up the French pastry, that's the ultimate!

Bonnie, I have to give you MAD PROPS for doing that! I was wondering what I'd do if I went down now since I ate like a FOOL when we visited in January...

I agree, sugar free ice cream beats the other choices! Good for you!!

Thanks for all the kind words and encouragement. I'm determined to stick to this diet. Though my body is getting extremely stubborn about giving up those pounds. We are going on a hawaiian cruise in Oct for our 35th anniversary. My brother and his wife are also going. I want to look better than my sister-in-law (which actually won't be that hard).

Way to go, Bonnie! I am really proud of you. If you can stick it out at WDW -- and ignore the many taste temptations they offer -- you can stick it out anywhere. Congratulations!

Pat

Super job, BonnieA! It's great to here it's possible to stick to it. I've been slowing planning my way of attack. It was great hearing all you terrific ideas. Keep up the good work! I hope I can report good news after our trip!
